Have to add 2 people to all ADRs but can't - any advice?

So my parents decided today that they want to go on our trip with us the last week of September. We are thrilled that they want to go, but wish that they had let us know before we did all of our ADRs at the 180 day mark! We were able to change a couple of our ADRs to 6 people, but it looks like several will be a problem.

For 1900 Park Fare breakfast, they were able to book a separate reservation for 2 at the same time. I think there should be a good chance that they can seat us together.

However, not surprisingly we have had no luck with Be Our Guest dinner and CRT breakfast. We also can't add two people to a dinner ADR for Sci Fi dine-in. I didn't know that one was so popular.

Anyway, any tips for adding extra people? Once a couple of years ago we were able to add one person when we got to the restaurant (Le Cellier), but I'm sure adding two is harder.

You're 5 months out, right now, I'd say just keep checking. If you were going next week, that'd be a different story.

When we were at WDW in mid-September, there were plenty of adrs at the more popular places. Most of these opened up within days of the adrs. It looked like people who were holding multiple adrs while finalizing touring plans, dumped the extra adrs.

Exactly. A lot of us are guilty of hoarding ADRs, myself included. I drop them as plans solidify, but I have a few right now, most notably several BOG, that I'm not ready to drop yet. Do we want/can we afford to do dinner, lunch or breakfast? Or just coffee and cupcakes later in the afternoon? These are the deep, philosophical questions I ponder on a daily basis.

I appreciate the information, everyone. I didn't think about people having multiple BOG ADRs, but when we called to change some of our others, they said the same thing, that some people might have one for every night and plan to cancel several. That's kind of frustrating, but given how complicated it can be to arrange all of this I can see why people do it. I hope to have all of this sorted out one way or the other before I have to do fast passes. I think I found an alternative way to do Sci-Fi that should work, so now it's just CRT and BOG.
