Hi
I'm hoping someone out there has an answer for me...........
I have an existing reservation and I would like to add a day to the beginning of the stay. The person I rented points from doesn't have anymore to rent. Could I rent from another person and add one more day? or does it have to be a whole new reservation? would they make me change rooms?

Any help would greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Kim

You would be making a new reservation since you are booking with a different member. If you book the same Resort with the exact same villa category you may be able to stay in the same room (no guarantees), but you will at the very least need to checkout and check back in that day.

If they are the same exact villa type you can link them and it's treated like one reservation with a guarantee of not moving. If the rooms come from a different category such as CRO vs points, it's only a request but no guarantees. If the categories are different in any way, such as a 2 BR lockoff vs 2 BR dedicated, you can't link them and would have to move. You could try again at check in and you could have the second member wait list if needed and you're far enoughout. You could also just stay off property that single night and get a good early start the next morning.

I am not sure if this is something new Dean is referring to? My husband and I have different memberships and I know once when we were doing this very thing we were told it was definitely not "guaranteed" to not have to change rooms. We would have had to transfer the points from mine to his in order to have this guarantee.

So, that being said, I would definitely have your renter check with MS for the most up to date information.

Not new. Any reservation reserved on points can be linked together whether it's different UY, home resorts, master contracts or different members. Once linked, assuming they are the same exact unit type and all reserved on points, it's treated as one reservation including for the DDP. MS cash rooms are also technically points reservations and the same would apply. Technically there is never an absolute guarantee as one can show up at one resort with no room for you, they could lose it, they could bump you, etc. But it is a guarantee as much as any single reservation would be.
