I got my flashlight and tons oh batteries, and after its all over I'm going to Disney World. Cause they will have power most likely, and we will not.

Here are some good sides to a hurricane.

#1 We can put all those plastic plants outside and get them dusted really good.

#2 We can put the cats outside for a bit, and this will have two side effects 1 they will get pressure washed, and 2 this will cure the constant urge to run outside every time the door gets left open just a crack.

#3 Free dog wash and if timed right during the eye of the storm they get air blown dry.

#4 After the power goes out, we will need to eat all those frozen ice cream treats in the freezer, and in Manny and Michelle's freezer. (don't worry guys I'm on it)

#5 Mass barbecue at Manny's

#6 Free pressure washing of the cars.

#7 Free house washing.

#8 Roof shingle test time, how will you rate.

#9 Just like in Vegas if it lands in your yard its yours to keep.

And #10 if by chance the porch falls in and all the debris get blown away thats one less thing I have to do for the addition.

But to keep you guys up to speed here are some local cams

Hey, Ed! I think we need to know your eBay ID?

Any discounts for DISpals? :smooth:

All the schools, government offices, etc, are closed tomorrow, but WDW will be open....after all the hurricane won't be over us till later tomorrow night....then I wonder what they will do on Sat...

And of course tomorrow is FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!!!!! So that means trouble for us!!!

Just keep an eye on the web cams.....you may see us blow over...

Its 10:00am and all is clear sky's are getting gray Key West is being pounded by rain and we wait. and wait and wait.

holding my breath.....I never have been in a hurricane before and it looks like it will hit South Lake County where I live. I wrote Ed before I moved and asked where to live....he NEVER once said, oh yeah we have hurricanes here! come to think of it , he never mentioned the stupid spiders and BUGS here either...Geez, Ed, thanks for nothing! :p

The stupid dog and cats go outside and get 'spooked' and run back inside. They can tell something is going to happen even though is just gray day out there right now.

I have the patio cleared of potted plants and patio furniture, I hope Ed is right and the patio gets a good power wash....it could use it. I worried about my little new palm trees and my new banana plant surviving this. Well worried about US surviving too, but I think (read: REALLY HOPE) we will be fine. I hate that it is basically hitting after dark....I will not want to sleep tonight.

My plan is to wear a "I survived Hurricane Charley 2004" to the pin event.

If you are of the praying sort, now would be a good darn time to do it!

Oh and I think I should get first dibs on the Epcot ball since you never told me about this hurricane nonsense.....

Sigh...right about now a blizzard in PA doesn't sound so bad anymore.....

Edited to add...they just upgraded Charley to a category 3

It is now a cat. 4, and maybe growing larger, and we have tornados all around us, and the hurricane hasn't hit land us...it will come in around Ft Meyers, Sanibel Island, instead of tampa...and yes we are all on the path....and so is Disney!!!

Praying would be good....and for all the people up the road, after it is finished w/ us..

And my family over in Ft Meyers....

I'm home they ordered all folks to be off the road by 2:00pm and inside by 4:00pm

Trailer and prefab homes are under a manditory evac order, Disney gearing down because its heading right for the Mouse now, and its a CAT4 Hurricane.

It raining here now YES I got the garbage cans inside. I'll keep posting as long as I have power.

My spotters in Ft'myers tell me its ugly dark and raining cat and dogs.

I'm off to get the neighbors ready I'll take duct-tape woman with me

We just pelted by the first band almost lost power winds are unreal not to mention lightning.

Here is a picture from the backyard...

Oh crud I forgot to bring in the stinkin plants I'm goin to get it now

Okay it hit the shore and my Niece in Ft'Myers says winds are nasty and roofs but mostly gutters are coming off.

There is a news crew in the middle of it all broadcasting and the roof of the building they were in just came off and fell on them, but they are okay I'm sure the video will make CNN.

Here its has become very calm, actually kids are outside playing basketball. by 8:00pm anybody's guess.

Stay tuned

Okay winds picking up and rain coming down Charley is officially a Cat4 storm and its coming this way.

Already reports of some heavy damage coming in from the west.

Florida declared a state of emergency.

Well some good news its down to a Cat2 hurricane loosing strength but will still hit us with 75 to 90mph winds.

Hey at this point I'll take whatever I can get. :teeth:

Rain rain and more rain I still have power so I'm doing better than most.

11'000 folks in Orlando are without power. Major damage in Ft'myers I lost all communications with Ft'Myers no phone or Nextel.

Altamonte still has power cause I see our Webserver.

Bob and June are getting pounded in Polk county (hang in there guys) We're next by about 9:00pm

Tornados went thru Port Charlet and wiped out a lot of homes.

Got thru to June and Bob they say its bad they are getting hammered bad wind is tearing the roofs apart, they lost power, and they say the rain is whipping from left to right they are watching debris fly around.

My Goddaughter Nicci in Ft Myers says the city looks like a war zone trees down, no power anywhere and they say it will be days before the power comes back.

She said the water actually hit you so hard it hurt.

Still no communications with Debi in Cape Coral. and I just got a page from the server in Altamonte power is off and it will shut down so that mean we lost power in Altamonte.

I still have power so this means I never moving out of Gotha.

Ed, thank you for keeping us all updated on Florida's status. I've bounced over to this thread a dozen times today.

Hugs to all of you.

Raul, thanks for the updates. I suspect my cousin lost power in the Hunter's Creek area since no one answered the portable phone. She told me earlier today that once they lost power & phone, the cel phones were only to be used for emergencies.

My thoughts & prayers to our Orlando area pin friends - Ed & Donna, Barb & Blaine, Lynnie & family, etc. Just think this is Lynnie & Barb's first hurricanes :(. Lynnie, where were you last September when Isabel came through?

We'll all pray for you tonight & you pray for us tomorrow night. Is it sunday afternoon yet?

June and Bob are over the worst of it. It's headed right straight I mean on the dot for Disney World (that stinks)

Then me (that stinks squared) The wind is howling right now still got power and two wind chimes that Donna not me forgot to bring in just got airborne and took a dive across the deck.

Don't know how much longer I'll have or if the Nextel towers will survive but I'm hopeful for the best.

Florida looks like a war zone debris everywhere, power lines out all over the place, and on the news they showed complete buildings destroyed.

And its not over yet. The animals are freaking out cats keep meowing and following us around. The dog is the cool one and just wants to eat, but has not left my side since I got home.

As June put it I'm over this now.

Hey Judith, I was in Florida by time Isabel ran amok. Henri dropped some heavy winds/ rain but nothing like this!

Right now, west of Orlando, medium rain but strong strong winds. Electric okay so far....

Had to beg the dog to go out a few hours ago (when it was just a drizzle and no wind) telling her, "This is it kid until tomorrow....go now or forever hold your pees."

Yeah, we had that problem during hurricane Isabel. Try it with 5 dogs! Why hasn't anyone patented doggie depends yet?

Hold on tight guys... glad it went down a few catagories but still those winds can be horrible. We were lucky during Isabel.. we got out with minor flood damage - down the street people lost half their houses to trees :(

Lights blinking and they just asked all the folks with generators to not run them inside the houses as Carbon Monoxide poisoning almost took the lives of some peoples pets when they ran it inside a sealed garage.

Trees coming down all over the place and the rain is getting stronger, and we are still 15 minutes away

They were right kids the wind does sound like a freight train.

The noise is so freakin scary it just sounds so weird. The wind is the worst Power just blinked I think this is it for me kids

Take care the rest of you I'll keep posting while I can... This is freaky
