I think I'm becoming addicted to this discussion board and I've been hit by an attack of the "have I made the right choice?" insecurities! Perhaps you guys can help and tell me lots of wonderful things about my choice of resort!! Yes, I know there is really no "right" choice and we will have agreat time but I'm asking anyway....here goes...

We visited from the UK for 2 weeks for the first time in February. Stayed at the Vistana, which was great. Had such a wonderful time we decided to book up another trip for 2006 19 May for 2 weeks (me, husband and DD8). Vistana was good with loads of room (we had a 2 bed apartment) but not really close enough to go back to parks in the evening wothout a lot of effort (we did it twice), so decided this time to spend our first week at a Disney resort and the 2nd back at the Vistana again and go to Universal and other things we want to do. We are fussy about where we stay so it had to be a Deluxe for us. Big decision about which one, which I won't bore you all with because you know all the factors - monorail, etc, etc. Anyway, we are choosing to fly with Virgin and even booking a year in advance there was very limited availability which cut down our choice of resorts. We had wondered about the Poly but have ended up with the BC. BIG dilemma about do we want to be really close to the MK or have more restaurants etc accessible and be able to walk to Epcot. We wouldn't have paid extra for a good view so wouldn't have had a view of the castle at a MK resort. Its all booked with deposot paid and I am so DELIGHTED (and already driving my husband mad), but everytime I read a post here I start to worry about will we like the BC, will it be too hot at that time of year, etc, etc. You know the feeling. Write to me in England and tell me wonderful things about the BC!! Thank you.

I have not stayed at the BC but I do stay in the area at the Swan and Dolphin. I can tell you that the location cannot be beat! You can easily walk or take a boat ride to BOTH Epcot and MGM. We always request a fireworks view at the S/D and it is wonderful to watch the Epcot fireworks from your room.

I live in New England and I can tell you that the theming is very New England and lovely. The pool that they have is huge and is the best anywhere in Disney with its sandy bottom and huge slide. The BC is very upscale and elegant.

The Poly is more relaxed and is on the monorail but I think the advantage of being close to 2 parks outweighs the monorail.

Let us know what you decide.

Joanne

Hello and welcome to the DIS!!! Don't worry, you just have RAD (resort anxiety disorder) and it's perfectly normal!!!!!

So, relax!!!!

From what you said in your post I think you are on the right track...the Epcot resorts make going out at night really easy, especially when you've been to a park that morning and spent all afternoon at the pool!!! If you don't mind driving or taking a bus to the MK and AK in the mornnings (when you are fresh), then you'll be fine. It's so easy to stroll over to Epcot or the Boardwalk (you can also take a very short boat ride to both) for dinner (so many options) and the boat to MGM is also quick.

I have stayed at both the BC and Poly and I definitely prefer the Epcot area. Okay, here's where I might make things worse for you. While we stayed at the BC, we kept looking at the Yacht Club. When we actually went inside, were amazed at how much "nicer" it seemed than the BC. The BC lobby was always packed and noisy with people waiting to get into the character breakfast (by the way, this is our favorite character meal). The YC lobby was so calming and serene. The YC also has full balconies with every room (the BC has mostly standing room only for one person). Everything else I can say they are more or less equal -they are so close together that basing it on restaurants or proximity to Epcot is silly. We just personally preferred the look and feel of the YC. It was a bit more luxurious (IMO) than the BC. Also, if you sit by the YC side of the pool, I did notice poolside service for drinks.

We LOVED the Beach Club! There's nothing quite like walking in and out of World Showcase, hearing that music playing... Storm-Along-Bay is an adventure in itself and we loved the feel of the rooms, the grounds, and the lobby. We requested (and were lucky enough to receive) a room with full balcony on the Crescent Lake side of the resort. I hear rooms on the Epcot end of the resort are also lovely.

I think second thoughts about resort choice are a very common malady on the boards. There are pros and cons to each, plus everyone has such a different take on what spells wonderful. My biggest problem is that I don't have enough time or $$ to personally try each resort myself! ;) :rotfl:

The Beach Club is a georgus resort and very very convenient! The only part of your plan, I'd question is moving out of it!

Thanks so much for your lovely replies! Yes, I'm sure it will be hard to move out after a week, but we will probably have had enough of 3 of us sharing a room by then (we like our space!). :)

We stayed at Boardwalk last year and are staying at Yacht Club this year. Like everyone else said the best things about Epcot resorts are location, and restaurants. Boardwalk is also a great place to hang out. Have fun!
