Have I calculated this correctly?

OK, since I've just learned that DVC members can segment their DDP I ran a scenario for our June trip.

We've never been able to really make the plan work for us so I'm thinking I must be missing something.

DxDDP for our group of 4 "adults" and 1 child would come to $337.95.

We are doing Ohana dinner one night and LeCellier the next. I've calculated the costs to be:
Ohana - $210
LeCellier - $215

If we were to segment our trip and get the DxDDP the one night we could use the 3 TS credits for the two meals (1-Ohana, 2-LeC), get 10 snack credits (~$30) and the refillable mugs. We'd come out ahead by about $50 as we wouldn't be buying the mugs if we didn't do the plan. It's not a huge savings but the $50 will cover at least one CS for another day.

Did I do this right????

Yes, you are thinking correctly. We have added the DDP to our upcoming trip also. We are doing it for 5 nights though - instead of one. I will say, we have never come out of LeCellier for less than $250, and we are a family of 4.

I did the math too for our trip and even the 3 ts we are doing we come out ahead $30-$50. I love we can segement to do just one day!

I agree that LeCellier bill will be more..if you do the Deluxe dining plan you will get an app, dinner, dessert... I am a family of 4 (2adults and 2 kids)..our bill for dinner was over 200$. We used the deluxe plan too when we went..but it was only 1 credit then

segmenting the reservation is something new for DVC. You can get the dining plan for different portions of your stay...for instance. We are staying 7 nights in Oct. We are going to do Deluxe dining for 2 nights, skip an day and do regular dining for our last 4 nights. It splits up your reservation. Some people have reported that they have to go to the lobby and get new keys for when the reservation changes but you don't have to change rooms.

I think the new segmented DP will slowly become a HUGE perk. It helps our family do the Char buffets, Capt Grill, Saana we COULDN'T justify paying 40- 65$ PP for. I have a ton of fantastic rest planned on the DDP about every other day, and cannot believe how cheap it really was (Please take the term cheap used only to compare to price if paid with TIW.)

IT IS A NEW great perk to DVC!
