Have any New Englanders driven

to Orlando on Xmas day. We have been discussing driving versus
flying. I dont mind driving down but I also dont want to run out of gas...lol

Any input is appreciated

thats a big risk.

We've driven to florida alot, but never in the dead of winter.

Your risking snow from here, to VA, possibly further south.

Me personally? I wouldnt do it, but I wouldnt fly on christmas day either.

Try posting this on the transportation board, and see what they've got to say

Weather aside, traffic on Christmas Day is a huge risk!

The year we lived in Jacksonville, FL, my mom came down for Christmas, but had to drive home on Christmas Day. Her normally 6.5 hour trip back to SC took 13 hours! NOT a fun way to spend Christmas day.... It wasn't weather, nor an unusual amount of accidents....just shear volume!

Coming from such a long way, I don't think I'd do it. It could end up taking you 2 days to get there. Not a fun way to start (or end!) your vacation or Christmas....

We drove home from FL to LI on the 30th of December, 2000. We drove straight through in order to beat a blizzard that was to hit the east coast. Got all the way to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge before it started to snow and from there home, it took us 4 hours for what should have been 1.5 hrs.

I have not done this however, we've talked about driving down sometime, because we like road trips. However, we would never do it in the winter...too many weather risks.

We drove down from Maine the day after Christmas last year. We did not have any bad weather on the way down and there was very little traffic also. On the way home on January 9 we did run into some flurries in New Jersey but other than that just downright cold after 3 weeks in the sun.

Not on Christmas day, but we did drive down the day after. I don't recommend it. Lots of traffic, black ice, and we hit snow in NJ.
