Have A Strange Question for UK DISers...

I realize this is probably an odd question but my DH really wants to know the answer. I don't even know how we got on this topic but I still feel the need to prove my DH wrong.

The question is about succession to your throne. In theory how would this work?

Prince William has married and is now King and his wife is Queen. They do not have any children but the Queen is expecting their first. If something happened and William died who would be on the throne? Would the Queen stay until their child is born and then the child takes the throne? Would Prince Harry become King until William's child is born and/or old enough? Would Harry become King and his future children the next in line?

I hope I have not been too confusing for you and I really appreciate any answers I can get. Thanks!

I certainly don't know the answer but I would guess that William's wife could not remain as Queen as she would only be there because she'd married him - like the Queen Mother was no longer Queen in her own right when our present Queen's father died. If the baby was a boy I suppose he would technically be king but there would obviously have to be a regency of some sort. If the baby was a girl I think Harry would become King (a scary thought for everyone!!!!! ). Don't know if there are any constitutional experts out there??? Personally I think that scenario would be the perfect opportunity to get rid of the lot of them!!

The baby would eventually become monarch whether a boy or girl. Harry would only become king if William had no children at all.

A regent (possibly Harry) would have to take charge until the child becomes adult.

Yes, of course - like our present Queen. Silly me, I should have worked that one out!!

Personally I think that scenario would be the perfect opportunity to get rid of the lot of them!!
