Have a Photopass Question? Ask me!

I haven't read all 18 pages Just wanted to thank OP for starting it If I may add my 2 cents I have used photopass since it first came to be I can't say enough good about it I will share a few things I have learned over the years though & forgive me if it has been mentioned already

Mark your cards if using one Take a Sharpie and write on the back of it Make sure you don't write over the bar code

If you have a camera have backup photos taken especially if it is a really special thing If Disney somehow loses your photos of that moment and you have backup photos, can say when & where pictures were taken, date, time, who is in the photos there is an extremely good chance that your photos will be found

If you have a copy of it and email it to them it ups the odds even more that they can be found I just experienced this last Sept and all was well It took a little back & forth with emails but PP managers really helped and made it happen I'm not saying pictures are lost often ( first time this have ever happened to me in all these years ) but it happens

I would really encourage people to view their pictures during the trip If something doesn't look right at least you have a chance to re-do most times

Now for MY questions: What do the cameras weigh approx ? Is full time hard to get with Photopass ? Thanks OP

Great tips! I also encourage people to check out their photos before they leave. Sometimes when the photos disappear from your account it doesn't mean they are necessarily lost. Sometimes they just failed to associate with the card or band. It's usually very easy to find lost photos if you come to one of the view stations. Just give us a time range, where you are, and if you are with a character. For example, if you say, "I was with Mickey at Hollywood Studios between 5:00-6:00," or "We took a picture around 1:00 behind Spaceship Earth" we can do a search which will pull up all the photos taken within that time at that location and together we can find your photos. Very rarely (maybe two or three times) have I never found a photo. In that case, it was most likely a camera error, which unfortunately happens.

The cameras are a few pounds but not too heavy. Most of us where the camera on a harness which equalizes the pressure on the back and shoulders. Still, it can hurt and it's bulky to walk around with. And yes, full time is hard to get. It's almost impossible to walk in and get it and there is a wait list for current CM's. The list depends on seniority and I know people who have waited around 2 years to finally get it.

We are a family of 4 and can hardly wait for our August trip. As we are staying for 3 weeks and have a little one who loves characters, we have purchased Memory Maker. However, we aren't/can't take the laptop and will only have iPad and iPhone which photos don't download onto.
What is the best way of checking my photos are working? If we got home after 3 weeks and there weren't any pictures I would be so disappointed to say the least.
I have seen you have mentioned viewing them in the parks. Does this count as downloading them in the allotted time they give you?
Thank you

Thank you for the great information in this thread. I have been going back and forth on this decision. We are traveling with my daughter who is two which eliminates the included ride photos but we do have reservations at two of the included restaurants. (Chef Mickey and Tusker House)Honestly I'm just worried she may not cooperate during picture time but like many have said the best photos are not posed. Just curious what opinions are out there regarding memory maker and toddlers?
And our reservation for Tusker house is for lunch does anyone know if there are Photographers available at lunch? I thought I read somewhere only breakfast.
Thanks again!

This thread has been so much fun to read! Thanks for answering all of these questions!

I went through our photos from the last trip and found a few worth sharing. Our frame photo turned out great! The photographer was wonderful and got both kids smiling

We had a fantastic photographer at Animal Kingdom who took this magic shot as well:

My princess definitely watched them sign her book. She started adding "sparkles" to her name soon after!

The best was when we met Mickey with my son asleep in the baby carrier. He wasn't 1 yet but Mickey was one of his first words and I couldn't believe he fell asleep in line!

Mickey still gave him a kiss!

For Beachgirl 85: The on ride photos on Buzz Lightyear are cute too!

Another thought, on day 9 of our vacation a photopass photographer offered my 3 year old a sticker. Those Disney stickers were seriously one of her favorite things about the trip! Before that she would not want her picture taken but after that, she wanted to stop for pictures at every photographer so she could ask if they had a sticker! I really wish she had found that photographer on day 1!

I've been reading and I'm not sure if this was answered yet.

What time do the photographers come out? We have CP ressies at 8am and I was hoping to get an uncrowned family photo.

Thanks for all the great info! I've really enjoyed reading thus thread!

You can just check them at the park. It doesn't count as a download since you are just viewing them. Since you are staying so long I would check every few days or so. That way you can be sure if a photo is missing since you would still remember it. Hopefully with 3 weeks you will get a lot of photos. The most I personally witnessed is 800 photos but I have heard of people getting up into a thousand+. Good luck!

Photographers are at Tusker House during breakfast and lunch, when the characters are still out. One option for you is to get a CD or download your photos after. I believe it's $169.95 after the trip. This might be the best because you can look at your photos and make sure that some of them are worthwhile. When you do this dining and attractions photos are not included. The Chef Mickey photos are kind of cute (they have a little Mickey statue). If you get MM you just get the digital photo but if you purchase the photo separately for $29.95 it comes with a folder with 5 prints, recipes and a character photo.

However, the Tusker House photo is boring in my opinion. Donald Duck used to be in the photo with you but now it's just the family in front of a wall. Honestly, most times it's nothing special.

If I was you I would consider getting the Chef Mickey photo package if it comes out really nice. Then, check your photos after the trip. If you like everything then you can:
- Buy the CD in the park
- Buy the CD value pack in the park (instead of a CD you get a voucher to go online and add borders and signatures, plus you get the gallery CD with 350+ photos taken around the park).
- Go online, play with the photos by adding borders, and download them directly to your computer.

It's all the same price. Since 2 year olds can be "temperamental" I don't know if I would pre-order anything since you may end up with photos that aren't as good as you hoped. It's up to you though!

The photographers are usually out pretty early. If people are allowed in the parks then there should be at least one photographer out.

ChanaC thank you for the info. That's sounds like a good idea, especially if I can view the photos before spending $$.
I love the Chef Mickey pics :) very cute.

Just a hint for this...

Right when they let you in (usually about 7:45) there will be a lot of people. Go check in for your breakfast & let the crowds disperse. Then while you're waiting to be called, go back to the Photographer. Two great things about this... there won't be a line. AND if he/she times it just right you can have a picture that looks like you are the only people in the park. We have one looking back down Main Street (from just past Casey's) with Christmas decorations all around and not a single other person in the image that truly is amazing. Then we turned around and got one with the castle, again with no one in the picture! Even the photographer was patting himself on the back.

:thumbsup2

Is there anything that can be done if magic shots don't appear in your photopass account (it doesn't seem like tinkerbell wants to cooperate!)?

My question is about downloading at home. When I download the Memory Maker photos to my home computer I keep getting a msg from WinRAR telling me I have to delete the program after 40 days. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Oh no! That happens sometimes. It's either because the person in the photo isn't in the right position or (most likely) the people who review photos at Quality Assurance didn't see it come through (it's manually put in). Give QA a call (the number should be on the website) and they should be able to help you.

Errrr..... not sure about that. We are mostly trained on taking photos and working in the view stations. The most I know about the website is from personally playing around on it or from a training powerpoint presentation. I would call the phone number on the website and they can better help you.

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow!

So we have done two magic shots already (balloons at Epcot and Olaf at HS) and when I log on to my Photopass account to look at them, the pictures are there but the "magic" part of it (balloons and Olaf) are not there. Does it take a certain amount of time for the finished photos to show up or did something go wrong with both of them? I'm kind of disappointed because Olaf was the one magic shot I really wanted. What should we do?

Just ignore it. It will still work after the 40 day trial.

No, you installed winrar, a shareware program. Winrar is provided for free but begs you to send them money.

You need to unzip the files which is built into modern operating systems. Or you can use winrar.
