I know HRH kinda sorta separated themselves from the Loews First Program. I still get credited stays and I still got an upgrade at check-in last trip this past March. I also have The All Access card so that may have played a part in the upgrade. Really just a great guy at check-in I think.

Anyone with Gold or higher know if you can get the upgrade before check-in (at time of reservation) like you can at the other 2.

We're booked at RPR and I'm getting twitchy to change it to HRH.

I'm going to call and ask Monday just wanted to know what anyone's experience has been with this.

Thanks!

yes, at gold you can get the upgrade when you book if the room is available in the system.
that is for all 3 hotels.

this is from the site:

*All upgrades are applicable to certain room and suite types only and subject to availability. Blue members receive a room upgrade, if available, upon arrival. Gold members receive an upgrade to a premium room, if available, guaranteed at time of reservation. Gold members can also enjoy a suite upgrade for only $50 per night, if available upon arrival. Platinum members receive a premium upgrade, if available, guaranteed at time of reservation. Platinum members receive a suite upgrade, if available at time of reservation, at no additional cost.

when at gold, upgrade to the next level at booking.
it will not be offered, you have to tell them you want the upgraded room.

the suites can be upgraded at the time of arrival w/ $50 per night, fee.
hrh does not have suites and deluxe for upgrades, but will up you from a standard no view room to a pool/water view.
i hope you get the room you so want on your next trip.

i received an email a few days ago from HR.
just stated that a new program will go into effect 10/1, which is a repeat of the other emails i have received from them

This is from Loews You First terms and conditions page:

Non-qualifying Rates include: Internet Third Party, as well as rates through any other discount program, coupon, complimentary or promotional offer. The Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando does not qualify for YouFirst benefits.

i've been platinum the past 6 years and book the king suite at rph when i book my ressie.

if i stay at hrh, i can get the upgrade of water view if i request the upgrade when i book.
only stayed at pbh once and not sure of the upgrade system there.
it's not one i will return to but damo knows a lot about the pbh.

I'm Platinum also and I have the King Suite booked at RPR - can also book a Portofino Suite at PBH, don't wanna stay there. I remember reading that Hard Rock removed themselves and just wanted to know actual experiences others may have had at time of booking HRH with an upgrade.

Wonder why they didn't upgrade you to the King Suite? I mean either they upgrade or don't - no? Guess I'm just trying to get an idea on how HRH is handling being a part or not of Loews and its programs.

Thanks, already know the written rule. It doesn't always follow suit with what they actually do. It states in the rules in bold no less,The Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando does not qualify for YouFirst benefits. I thought we wouldn't get credit for our HRH stays and yet we do. Thanks for helping.:)

i can't figure out the logic with hrh procedures on upgrading on the loews program.
loews states they(hrh) are not a part of the youfirst program, yet, guests get some of the loews perks.

maybe hrh is handled by loews for guests needs and to have continuity with the other 2 hotels?

i have experienced upgrades at hrh in years past.

could be if they have over booked, it is easier to upgrade guests so the other standard rooms could be filled.
some ressies overlap and if coordinated, all the rooms could be filled by random upgrading.

i'm extremely satisfied staying at rph for my vacations.
i love everything that hotel has to offer the guests.

I know you love RPR and that was my main reason for trying at again! I probably should just stop twitching and leave my reservation alone!:rotfl2: If it isn't all I hope I can go back to HRH next time.

My other reason is that HRH is so close to USO, so less walking back and forth during 4 nights of HHN. I know - suck it up!

i do have to agree with you on the hrh having the edge to stay at if you are there for hhn.

no boat transportation is needed for returning to your room.
a short walk and you are back on hrh premises.

if i was going for a short stay and only there for hhn, it would be a consideration.

hands down, it has the ideal location for those that mainly are at universal for the hhn event.

but, i don't do short stays at UO in october.
i'm booked and will be there for 10 days so i go with rph for it's ambiance.

i find more food places so much closer at rph.
citywalk is 5 minute walk on the path from the hotel tower i will be at.
and there are 4 places on site at the hotel to get food.
i like the shops at rph, quite a few to look in.

jessicaR, if your goal is to do hhn 4 nights in a row and not much in the parks during the day, hrh would suit your needs to a T.

you've been at peak and high seasons before.
got to book early and not at the last minute to get the room you want.
you're booked at rph now but want to switch.

hhn fills hotel rooms rather quickly once it is near the end of august.

Have stayed at HRH multiple times as platinum and gold Loews. Have never received an upgrade when booking (or even at check in for that matter) at HRH. Showed my All Access Card and everything. Only thing we got was a pin.

Have always received credits for our stays, but absolutely no upgrades.
