Have a good day! Don't get blown away!

It's very windy here too. When I got home from work I had to drive around a tree that had fallen down in the enterence of my street. Then I got to my house to find my recycle box (which had 2 bricks on the top anyway) to be in the middle of the field next to my house. Half of my felt on the shed roof has blown off and was spread across my garden and in the pond (so I had to fish it out!) Next doors fence has blown down taking a tree with it and the felt has blown off the house behinds shed roof (the guy only fixed it on Sunday as it blew off last week!) Then my neighbour rings the doorbell holding my 2 plant pots from outside which had blown over this afternoon so they took them in for me!
I'm just hoping it doesn't rain otherwise we are going to have a flooded shed (and DH won't be home until 11pm as he has to work late) as I can't fix the roof! I hope it dies down soon.

I think it's calming down a bit over here. This morning was awful, very windy and wet - and I've lost 3 panels from my fence

I think we should've all stayed at home at DISed :)

Did we not? :rotfl2:

A tree fell down right outside DD's school about an hour before home time and took the electricity cables with it! So power was out in the school. Also no power at church where DD's were meant to have choir tonight but at least we now don't have to go out. :thumbsup2 We now have 3 fence panels down, someones going to make alot of money out of this wind.

In Leeds the police blocked off the street where I work as it is quite thin and the buildings very tall so it was creating a wind tunnel and the shop signs and some scaffolding were in danger of falling down. I got told off from a Policeman when I left work and walked down the street!

At the factory were Gavin works the glass roof panels lifted up and smashed down all over the place, Gavin was sorting out accident reports and trying to get a new roof all day.

Took us 2 hours 15 mins to get home rather than the usual 50-60mins, the A1 and M18 were closed for a while backing all the traffic onto the M62.

:yay:

I have finally got home 6 hours late after a train station I was at had to be evacuated as the roof had collapsed. It is a busy train station where people make connections to London, Glasgow etc and hundreds of people are left stranded till the morning. DBF had to come and collect me and the 45minute journey took 4 hours as loads of roads were shut. It has been a very long day.

my mums just called to let me know that it took 2 hrs 30 mins to get back from london on a train when a normal journey is 1hr! Our garden has survived but next door have lost 2 fence panels so the dog will have a bit further to roam, seems to have died down here now though

My DH got as far as knaresbourgh? and then was stuck for 2 hrs with out moving in the A1. He called it a day and booked into a hotel - he will be travelling down this morning. It means he will miss of the conference he a trade stand at but at least hes safe;)

DD's are happy, their school is shut from the tree falling onto the power cables yesterday. They weren't quite so happy when they had to come to the dentist with me. :rotfl2: Also I kept justifying why they were out of school to anyone that listened as I felt so guilty, how would I be if I did take them out of school and it wasn't legitimate. :worried:

Oh well, suveyed the damage from the wind, and we werent to bad compared to quite a few of our neighbours, who lost fences etc, one neighbour lost the roof from her shed, another had their green house blown to bits. We lost all our electric yesterday to, kids thought the candles were great. Thankfully it all came back on at 10pm last night, we were all in bed at 9-00pm never been in bed so early for a long while!!!
Girls were off school as roof was coming of, and now they reckon they may be of all next week if the school cant get builders in??? Ive only just got my life back again after xmas and the school wants them to have more time off, HELP!!!!! lol.
