Have a few questions regarding renting DVC points

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here it goes.

We are thinking about renting points to stay in a studio at BWV, BCV or WLV for 6 nights sometime in the first two weeks of May. I am waiting on my husbands work to tell him when he can go, but we might not find out until the middle or end of March which dates he can take off.

If we wait to book until then, will it be near impossible to find availability for a studio at anyone of these resorts for that time?

We have a pay pal account. Do most renters prefer that, or do they want a certified check?

If this is not the right place to post this, please let me know where I should post.

Thanks for your help.

Early May is normally a good time to find availability. However, 60 days prior to any arrival date, any remaining unreserved DVC accommodations are made available for cash rental thru CRO. Since you need to wait until you are within that period, availability may be more limited since reservation availability for early May will be open to everyone (not just DVC members) in early March.

Many members will accept Paypal for payments, but some still request bank check or money order. That detail is entirely between you and the member you work with. You should also keep in mind that, because of limitations placed on these reservations by DVC, some members may require full payment even before the reservation is made, since they could be penalized if they later cancel. This is definitely the case within 30 days of arrival.

While you may find just what you want for your dates, DVC reservations often require advance planning to get your first choice.

Once you know what dates, resort and villa you should just post on the Rent/Trade Board and see if someone can assist.

Good luck! :)

Availablility on your chosen dates in May will be unknown until you rent from someone and can reserve. Checking now is useless, since availability can change in just minutes. I would say you would have a better chance at BWV than the other two, simply because it is larger. I would say you would have very little chance at VWL, since it is the smallest DVC.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will be waiting on pins and needles waiting for my husbands work to get their act together.
