I love seeing how abandoned places get reclaimed by nature.
We have one not to far from here called Chippewa Lake. If you go here and scroll a little south to the wooded area you can still see some attractions. I want to head down there and take some pictures at some point this summer.
We live a few minutes from Geauga Lake in NE Ohio. Its depressing to look at it now. Half torn down. The tracks broken. Its like my childhood memories are broken!
I'm going to have to ask my mom about Idora Park today. I've never head of it, but I'm sure she went there when she was younger.
Loved Chippewa Lake when I was a kid. And Euclid Beach.
I think the only thing left at Euclid Beach is the entrance arch. When I was young, maybe 10, I remember going to some fall festival around here and they had an exhibit with a bunch of the old Euclid Beach attractions. None were working but they had some old roller coaster cars and some other stuff. My parents both went there as kids and they really liked the exhibit.
I haven't seen what Geauga Lake looks like now. I thought they were trying to auction off a lot of the rides so I didn't think it would look that bad yet. I only went there a couple of times as a kid but did go to Sea World a lot.
Seeing Rocky Point as it is today makes me so sad, yet brings back so many good memories from my childhood and teen years. It was quite the place.
I loved rocky Point!!! Went many times on field trips when growing up... Miss the clamcakes and red chowdah
