My son wants to go to Louisville's Waverly Hill Sanatorium for his birthday. They have 2 hour, 4 hour and 8 hour (all night) tours. We're trying to decide which to do and want to know if it's worth the cost ($20 per person for two hour, $50 per person for four hour, and $100 per person for 8 hour tours).

We told him he could bring a friend or two and my husband would go with him. This is for his fifteenth birthday.

Does anyone have any experience there or know anything about it?

If it were me, I'd opt to do the night tour. More creepy and prob. more chances to experience something. But, that's me.

I saw the Waverly Sanatorium on Ghost Hunters and on another documentary type show and it really fascinated me. I'd love to go there!!!!

I told my DS11 that, next summer, we could stay at the Gettysburg bed & breakfast that they showed on Ghost Hunters. Unless someone knows of a more haunted Gettysburg haunted hotel/bed & breakfast!!!!

My son wants to do the all night tour, too, but that's $300 for the three of them. I'm just not sure we want to spend that much and it would be really disappointing if they didn't have a "good time."

OMG! This sounds like FUN! I wanna go!!!!!

How far into Kentucky is this?? I wonder if we could do a weekend thing????

My friend stayed at the Cashtown in about 4 years ago and she and her mom had experiences. While she was sleeping she awoke with someone pressing on her leg, and her mom said it felt like someone was tucking her in at night, and when they were gettin ready one day it looked like someone was laying on the bed there was a imprint on it then it went away! It was kinda cool to hear her stories then see it on Ghost Hunters!

It's in Louisville, which is across the river from Indiana. Actually I think it's just South of Louisville. They're doing a class now. The two hour class and an overnight stay is $150 per person.

I think it's probably about 7 or 8 hours away from Chicago, but I could be a couple hours off!

I haven't personally been there, but I have many friends that have been. They all love it. They have a haunted house at Halloween every year that is supposed to been awesome. My best friend is wanting to do the all night tour, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm not even sure that I believe it's haunted but I know that I would skeeve myself out.

Oh wow I would do it in a second! I wonder how far it is to Kentucky?????

I went there for their Halloween tours several years ago with of all people, a group from church!! Anyway, we had fun. One of the ladies with us, her dad worked the night shift right before it closed down. The TB morge slides always bring up intersting discussions. BTW, I think Chicago is only about 6 hours from Louisville.

I have wanted to do this forever! It would be really creepy, but completely fun! The prices are really not totally terrible either. I say let him do it....

If you can do it, go for the all night thing! Even if he doesn't 'see' anything, the place is creepy enough to be really exciting. And believe me, that 8 hours can fly by.

Someday I WILL see this place.

I haven't been but would LOVE to go there. And...I would also like to do a ghost tour of Eastern State Penn...that place is off the hook!

I have been!

The 2 hour tour was more than enough for me. However, he is 15 and a boy. I say overnight. My friend lives in Louisville and her and her mom want to do the ovenight, but I am too chicken. The whole place creeps me out.

Where in KY do you live?

Oh and Louisville is about 6ish hours to Chicago. We live just south of Lex and my aunt drove to Chicago in 7.5 hours a few weeks ago.
