Haunted Rides At Wdw???

Wow. I was enjoying reading about the superstitions and traditions of cast members who work on these rides. These stories are a part of WDW lore and knowing about them adds richness to our understanding of the human side of the parks. Then this silly catfight broke out about whether or not ghosts are real...

I'm with rocketriter, this is stupid. This is DISNEY! In this town, every thing is supose to magical and fun. This is what walt wanted, us to use our imagination and to have fun with it. So who cares if the ghost is real or not. Just have fun with it. i think a ghost haunts my car (it was my grandfather's, but now mine) because every time i drive that car something bad happens but i know it's not real and i don't care. So for god's sake can this stop and let people have their fun.:earsgirl:

Do I need remind you all to play nice? Ghosts or not, the topic is which rides are rumored to have 'em. Not whether or not they exist.

It's hard to find information about George! I found this post at hiddenmickeys.org under fun facts for WDW for what it's worth:

I am a Disney World Attractions cast member that can confirm the story of the George the Ghost on Pirates as we call it. Long story short he was a Imagineer that built the tracks for the ride and died on the ride. I will not tell anymore of this very complicated and secret story. He did design a secret area on the ride to hide, when stressed. The ride does break down if we do not say goodnight George after closing everynight, if we do forget the next day if a guest says I dont believe in George, it will and has broke down. The rest I will take with me to a grave, or you need to be a pirate for the carribean to learn the true secret behind the myth that is George
Sounds pretty mysterious!

I don't know about the rest of you but if I was "stuck" in this world after I passed, WDW would be the place where I would like to be "stuck"! LOL

You got that right. George picked a good place to go. :earboy2:

I just wanted to say that I witnessed George first hand. As a cm being given a tour by another CM. The whole discussion of George came up and long story short, by the time the tour of POTC was over, the ride had shut down. HOW COOL!!

Anyone heard the rumor about the bloody bathrooms at HM????

Everytime I go on the haunted mansion I see a ghost sitting in my car with me. This happens at the end of the ride. Has anyone else had this ghostly experience. It really is wild. The Ghost is riding in my car. I see him but I don't feel him.

:rotfl2:

HAHA That always happen to me, too! but we(me and my sister, ends up the person i always ride with) pick his nose, hug him, and try to hit on him. He is sweet about it. :rotfl2:

:) Of course that happens its part of the ride, when you look in the mirror you see a ghost in your car, its awesome, lol. Wow I never heard any of these stories, this is so cool! I can't wait to go next so I can say good night to george, lol. This makes me wanna work at Disney even more... then I can here the secret story :).

The last time me and a friend used a wedgie board we both ended up with very very ripped underwear.

If you do decide to use one, make sure you wear Fruit of the Looms.

:rotfl2:

And for gods sake, Wear CLEAN ONES!!!!

:rotfl2:

It really doesn't matter if you bring clean or dirty underwear... If your wedgie board is any good, they'll be dirty by the time you're done!!!!!!!!!!

There is some rumor about CM's walking into this bathroom that is backstage at HM, and when the go and tell someone else to check it, there is no blood!! There were 6 of us and we all had to take turns opening the door to see if there was blood on the walls. If someone knows a backstory to this I would love to hear it!!

I have to say, I love this topic. Please if anyone has any other scary stories of behind the scenes ghost, please keep em coming.

On a serious and tragic note, there were several people (both guests and CMs) who were killed in attractions over the many years, I always think about these poor people when I am on that particular ride and I wonder if their spirit is around. I once read that a soul that is killed in a tragic accident, sometimes hangs around that area for a while (if you believe in the afterlife).

I read many years ago a CM was killed in COP when the stage moved - she was standing near a wall that crushed her (really horrible). Since then the wall would collapse if someone was trapped in that particular situation. Many stories like that in many different attractions.

Godspeed for all these people.
