Haunted Mansion Refurb

The Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion is planned to close for a brief refurbishment this fall.

The refurbishment is scheduled to begin on November 28, through to December 1, reopening to gusts on December 2 2016.

There is currently (as of last weekend) a huge scaffolding surrounding it with a picture of the building surrounding the actual thing. We were wondering what that was about!

Hmmm...any chance this closure is for a Hatbox Ghost installation? I believe the DLR HM was also closed for a similar amount of time when their HBG was installed...

It makes sense considering the incredible amount of Hatbox Ghost merch I saw during my WDW visit last week!

I've actually been wondering if they went from just a paint spruce to trying to get an overlay in for the first time without a long closure. If this is the case them lets close it now and get it over with!

Well, last time I was in there they really did need to dust. Those light fixtures had so many cobwebs!

He'll just disappear again.. (if you don't know the back story, 2 hatbox ghosts were made 1 for each park and it was installed in wdw and the day before wdw opened it just disappeared and nobody knows why or where it went.) Also if you don't know, both haunted mansions were made at exactly the same time, it was the first attraction finished at WDW and just waited for opening day.

I did also but it's been covered for more than the 2 weeks and it's already started. This is something different that needs the ride shutdown to do.

Maybe they the paint job just needs 4 days to paint areas that are in the queue line or entrance way and can't be done when guests are there.

they just repainted a lot of the public spaces with no closure.. paint doesn't take all night to dry.

At Disneyland that wouldn't even be called a refurb. There'd just be a sign saying, "This attraction will open 96 hours late today."

That's my favorite Haunted Mansion fact! That's it's not a copy of DL's at all, but essentially that they're both the first Haunted Mansion.

An improvement to the queue would be nice. I hadn't been on it in awhile and wasn't expecting the mass, no line, everyone crammed together, experience before ever even getting in the building. It was truly bad. I understand filling in the stretching room, but why not have an actual line in the queue? Most of the special effects were turned off in the queue, as well.

The interactive queue elements were turned off for the outside refurb, since the interactive queue, itself, is closed off. The massing of guests before being let into the foyer with the aging portrait has been around at least as long as the interactive queue (2011.) I thought it was always that way?
