Haunted Mansion Refurb Begins August 14th

Haunted Mansion Overlay is only for 3ish months, the regular haunted mansion is here for 9 months. It's not that long. I like both themes, and honestly you know which one is more of a hit with wait times for haunted mansion (the holiday overlay is the more popular one) so it being here for a few months makes sense.
Not sure I think the regular hm is popular.
And the regular hm is down 1/2 of August, September, October, November, December and either 1/2 or all of January. That is way too much.
Wait times do not tell the whole story. People come for Halloween and Christmas which increased attendance.
The overlay is good but after 20 years and if it so popular make it a regular attraction.

Okay 4.5 months, 7.5 months of the traditional ride which is still a lot. and generally I don't think it stays open until mid January its normally down after the holidays are done.
This year HMH stayed open until early Feb. February!!

September, October, November, December is 4 months. This past year it stayed up until the end of January (no that is not normal and was likely so they would have a crowd-eating ride while they waited for MMRR to open), so it was 5 months of NBC and between the changeovers, 6 months without the regular Haunted Mansion. That is way too much for ANY overlay.

It also doesn't make a whole lot of sense this particular year to have it switch so early. The new HM movie comes out on July 28th and people will get to ride for a whole 2 weeks before it shuts down. Seems like a missed opportunity to push the schedule a bit, IMO.

Like I said earlier, give NBC a year-round attraction. It’s popular enough for it and won’t take away from the also immensely popular HM.

Yes no synergy for the movie and the attraction..lost chance....Could have delayed the overlay by 2 to 3 weeks. I agree 6 months with the regular HM is too much. Build a NBC attraction in DCA,

Honestly the HMH overlay is great but it is up for too long and after 20+ years is getting well stale. Disneyland should have the regular HM for the Halloween. But the overlay up in November.
Obviously I am a huge NBC fan, but I love both iterations of the HM.
I just wonder why you think the overlay is stale because it is 20 years old but the OG HM is ok. It hasn't had any major changes, why isn't it stale? Thunder Mtn is the same as I remember from over 20 years ago, I don't think it is stale. Most of the rides we all love haven't had major changes in the past 20 years.
I imagine they wouldn't shorten the time because it is a big draw and a lot of work for just a month.

You make good points. The point of the Halloween overlay was to do something special for the season. Well the overlay is great but it is essentially not changing or evolving. If you are going to close a major and popular attraction like the Haunted Mansion then you really should be doing a different overlay every year. Yes there is a new gingerbread house every year. But what does Christmas really have to do with Halloween? You can do a Halloween 🎃 fall season overlay without the Christmas. Overlays are not major attractions. I understand it is a major draw then build a Jack NBC attraction. Also there are many people who would like to see the regular hm attraction on Halloween 🎃. Overlays are great but this overlay has not evolved or changed. Why still a NBC overlay? Disney cannot develop another Halloween themed overlay on its own?! With special characters and enhance some scenes? You can do an overlay without nbc and
Jack. Yes major attractions that we all love have not changed. This is an overlay on an attraction that wipes out the entire HM for a minimum of 5 months a year. Build a jack nbc attraction in DCA and leave the Haunted Mansion alone.
