Haunted Mansion or Pirates FP+?

I currently have a FP+ for Pirates because we're doing pirates league and I've read it's cool to ride Pirates after doing that. But now I'm thinking my FP+ might be better used for HM instead. I've also recently read about the Pirates Adventure so if DD is interested we might do that after Pirates League. If we do, I've read that after doing a couple of missions they give you paper FP for Pirates. But since I'm not sure if we'll do the Pirates Adventure, I'm not sure if I should switch our FPs.

Here's my current plan

We'll be there for rope drop
BTMRR
BTMRR
HM
Peter Pan (FP+)
Pirates League
Pirates (FP+) (or Pirates Adventure before?)
Then we might leave MK for lunch and a break before returning for our BOG ADR at 4:00 and 7DMT FP+ at 5:00.

If you choose not to do the Pirates game and get the paper FP for Pirates, then I would get a FP for Pirates.

Both rides are about a toss up at their wait times, they both garner pretty similar times. Being you'll be going to HM after riding BTMRR twice right at rope drop, then your wait for HM should still be minimal

HM is outside waiting. Yes there is an awning, but if it's blowing rain or really hot it's a long wait. PoC is inside waiting.

But since you are planning on hitting HM that early in the morning the wait shouldn't be too bad so I'd go for a PoC FP. Plus as others have said the interactive queue at HM is neat if you haven't seen it before. And if they give you a bonus FP for PoC then ride it again later after your dinner!

This. I hate waiting outside in the heat. Especially in the queues where you're herded like cattle, everyone pushing and squishing together. The interactive part of standby is cute, but maybe wait until later in the evening when it's cooled down a bit and see what the wait is. Pirates is inside for most of the queue, and it's an actual line, not a big space to squeeze bodies into.

What you say about the HM queue is true, however, that situation is nearly the same if you use a HM FP.

The "final" waiting section at the mansion door (near the graveyard) is the area where the most guests are compressed together, ("Fill in all the available spaces.")
and that area is common to both standby and FP guests.

Either way, the lower the outside temperature is, the better.

Thanks everybody. I think I will keep the pirates FP+ for now. I'm hoping that since we'll be riding HM early enough that it won't have a long wait. If DD and I decide to do the Pirates Adventure, will I be able to modify my pirates PF+ (12:05-1:05) as long as the time hasn't expired? That way if we do the Pirate Adventure and receive 2 paper FP then I could switch out pirates for something else. Does that make sense?

I, too, am "anti-squish!"

I find both will pop up as 4th FPs if you keep checking. So it doesn't really matter, make a choice and you can get the other one after using your 3rd. So I would go with whatever one worked best with my schedule and got me off early enough to keep trying for more FPs.

You can modify if the time hasn’t expired. If you know you’re not going to use a fp and you modify it before the start time, then it becomes avaliable for someone else to book.

I’ve found it much easier to get a HM fp as a 4th+ than Pirates.

I received an e-mail from touring plans earlier with updated park hours. It seems MK will be opening at 8am instead of 9am. According to my personalized touring plan, we'll be able to get a lot accomplished without FP+ the first couple hours, so no need to use a FP+ for HM. I was even able to add in a bunch of Fantasyland rides before our PF+ for Peter pan.

I did a search trying to find some more information on Pirates Adventure and found out that there are 5 maps and each map takes 20-30 minutes to complete. Some people say you can get a FP for Pirates after completing 2 maps, but it might be up to the CM working at the time.

I think you get a FP, but not sure exactly when. Some people said after completing 2 maps, which seems to be the rules you get the FP. One said they were offered a FP after each time they completed a map and another said they got one after completing all 5.
