For many many years, I've wanted to make it to Disneyland while the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay was on the Haunted Mansion. For many different reasons, we were never able to go during the holiday season. This year, however, I was finally going to get to go and I was beyond excited.
Thursday
We flew into Long Beach airport on Thursday night and checked into the Embassy Suites in Garden Grove. Let me say that our room was wonderful. We had a king suite on the top floor in a corner -- floor to wall windows, a super comfy bed, and a great view that we knew would allow us to see the fireworks from the living room.
Friday
We woke up on Friday morning (11/3), got some breakfast and headed to the parks. We arrived around 9am. The minute I stepped onto Main Street, I just got downright giddy. I was finally there again. Yay!
We rushed over to Space Mountain, grabbed fast passes (we knew we would want to ride again) and rode the ride. Let me say I'm impressed with the changes. The ride felt much darker inside and the new music fit the ride very well. It's just a fun ride.
We hit all the major rides on the way to the Haunted Mansion after SM. We really did like the new and improved Pirates.
After Pirates, we had our 11:40 adrs at Blue Bayou. I was a little worried after having read some of the reports that the food has been somewhat mediocre there as of late. We were not disappointed, though. Our food was pretty good. I had the jambalaya and my husband got the chicken. We even got some free chocolate mousse for desert as we were celebrating our anniversary on the trip. Service was great. Food was tasty. It was, overall, a very enjoyable meal and everything I normally would expect of the Blue Bayou.
After lunch, it was time to finally hit the Haunted Mansion. I swear, I felt like a little girl that was finally getting to meet a disney princess. I was in awe at how wonderful everything looked and I keep bouncing and giggling (anyone that knows me knows this is strange behavior for me
). The ride was everything I could have hoped for and more. We rode it 2 times in a row and got a fast pass to return later.
