Haunted Mansion Fast Pass: a warning

Folks, just a warning/FYI. I was at the park yesterday. I got a FP for HM and returned at 3:00 to use it. The FP line reached all the way to the Splash Mountain line entrance. Seems it's a very popular ride this time of year. My advice: get and use a HM FP as early as possible. I got mine later in the morning (for a 2:55 - 3:55 return time) and it was effectively useless.

Typically when that happens they completely halt the standby line until the FP line clears. So it's still worth it to use the FP, even if the standby line appears shorter.

I wonder if there were people in that line trying to use fast passes that had expired. There are still at lot of people who aren't aware that Disneyland has started enforcing the return times.

I doubt it. But the ride could have been down earlier, causing extra FP returns once the ride reopened.

I've seen this happen as well (although, the line didn't get back to Splash) after the attraction came up from a lengthy shut-down and right after Fantasmic! (when it was running) ended.

Things were crazy at HM yesterday, it wasn't nearly as bad today, still busy but not nuts like Monday.
