Haunted mansion emergency

I think the ride usually stops to load someone with a mobility problem. I would guess if the ride started up again without a problem, that was probably what was going on.

Cute story about your son! Sometimes, I still close my eyes at that part! :rotfl2:
My son loves HM. Thus I ride HM a lot. I'd say every third time or so there is a stop somewhere during the ride, sometimes longer than others.
But, OP reported they closed the entry queue, which suggests a different scenario than a stop to load.

Seriously? We were there Thursday and it was still closed. We would have gone back to MK if I'd known that!

It opened Friday right around noon-ish. We were not expecting to ride and had walked from Pirates, planning to take in Philarmagic before eating at BOG, taking the "long way" around the end past Splash, sort of cruising around one last time before eating lunch and heading home. As we walked by HM they were just letting folks in and we jumped in and did that instead of Philiarmagic.

Darn. We did the KTTK tour Thursday and we went in to stand in front of HM. Our Guide Pieter was clearly a big HM fan. He told us a lot of details "to look for your next time". Clearly even he didn't know it was opening soon.

There were 10-12 CMs in HM garb walking in and out and my Wife mentioned that was odd for a closed attraction.

Don't know about Friday but we were stopped for a good 20 minutes or so yesterday afternoon around 2pm as well. Ironically my 10 year old has always always closed his eyes for the heads that pop up from behind the gravestones. Well, we got stopped directly beside one for 20 minutes and thankfully we are well over that fear now:rotfl:
He actually said "I've been closing my eyes for 6 years for that?!":rotfl2:

I have no idea why we were stopped though.

I have no idea what happened, but when I was a child I did the EXACT same thing. One day I decided to peek...then I was like, :confused3. lol

A closure doesn't mean an incident. It can just mean something broke and they need to fix it. Some rides like Radiator Springs Racers can be closed for a matter of hours for something like a hat flying off of a head. Everything stops and has to be totally reset. There's nothing to report for what's likely the vast majority of ride stops that lead to closing the ride for a period of time.

Just did this. Primevil Whirl seems to be a death trap for Disney cast members.

And several years ago a 4 year old died from heart failure after riding mission space.

2 deaths on PW. Terribly sad, but a death trap?

Wikipedia says the boy "died as a result of a pre-existing, previously undiagnosed idiopathic heart condition called myocardial hypertrophy". Again, horribly sad. But not MS's fault. Some kids die while running or playing soccer or basketball, because of underlying conditions, but it's not the fault of the activity...

So sad.
