Haunted Mansion decorations?

When will the decorations come down in the Haunted Mansion? And will they be up again next October?

They usually come down within 1 week after New Years and they are usually up by the first full weekend in Oct.; which will be 10/6/06.

The date I was told is 1/16 however according to Disneys calendar it looks like it will be running through the 17th, then going down 1/18 through February (March calendar isn't posted yet).

As for them being up NEXT October, there was a rumour here that this may be the last year for the Overlay. Since I promised my DD that she would be able to see them and did not want the wrath of a Teenager to deal with, am taking her back this year to make sure that she does.

Hope the rumour is not true but ........

That is my concern. I read this rumor previously, and we had planned to go in Oct. 06. My DS will be sorely disappointed if they are not up. Is there some way to find out for sure?

I think it was a post from Maryjo that talked about some dispute with Tim Burton.

Burton has to give permission each year for the overlay, and there are reports on many discussion boards that he now thinks it is overexposed and will be pulling the plug.

Can't find any definitive story, but lots of discussion on lots of boards discussing the rumour.

I called someone I know on the DL Event Services team. As far as she's concerned, they're doing the HMH event next year. In other words, nobody told them this is the last year for the overlay.

Actually that rumor has been circulating for years.

I agree with 1000th happy haunt. As far as Event Services knows, they will still have it. I am sure they will know beter in a few months. It is my understanding that they are definately having a POTC event in Q1 07 (which starts next October) - I am not sure if that adds anything to the mix (meaning lots of events to go to, eh 1000th happy haunt?)

I thought the POTC event in DL was going to be in conjunction with the release of the new movie (in July 2006). The Q1 07 POTC event is supposed to be at WDW (although they don't have it 100% planned yet). WDW ES told me early November.

Well if it's not the last year at least I get to go to DL at Christmas this year and can blame her!

If it is and we don't go, there'll be no livin' with the Brat!
