Haunted Mansion and the Virtual Queue

There are several construction projects happening at the same time. Off the top of my head:
1. HM queue
2. HM exit and gift shop
3. Tiana's Bayou Adventure
4. Hungry Bear
5. Critter Country

Will they open some before the other? Maybe, but it is unknown at this time. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/news/park-construction-updates/
Given the onstage distance between the entrance to HM and the entrance to Splash, I could see Disney normalizing the queue at HM before the Splash/Tiana/HB/CC construction is done. But I'm not willing to lay a large bet on that...

I don't think the HM queue is going to be an issue, but the exit might be. It depends on how they decide to re-route the Tiana queue.

I'm so excited to know HMH is opening Monday! I just wish it were not VQ -- though I understand why it has to be that way for a while. Due to my disability situation we can only go to the parks in the evenings right now due to the heat. It will be helpful also when the refurbishment is finished, as we'll need the new accessible entrance (which I'm excited about.) I hope it won't be TOO long before it cools down some and we can try to be there earlier in the day so we can try to get in! Have fun everyone!

7 AM, so does this mean if I'm parking I need to have the app open so I can get in the Q right at 7 AM or do I have to get into the park before getting into the Q?

You do not need to be in the park. The parks don't open until 8 am. EE is 7:30 am.

Cell reception in the parking structure can be spotty. I would try to do it before you enter the structure.

Does anyone know if the VQ assigns you a time window or do you get to choose a time? My only experience with VQ was from a few years ago when Rise was using it at DL. That one assigned a time randomly and it was so hard to even get in the Queue (took a few days to actually get in) that you didn't dare say no to it. Problem was that even though I was up at 7, the rest of the family wasn't. So it was a mad dash to get everyone up and ready and over to the park/ride by the early time it gave us.

It assigns you a time. The open question for this is whether they'll enforce the return times. (Since the lack of a queue is the concern, I suspect they will - unless there are points that there's nobody in line and the CMs have some latitude.)

There is always confusion from guests who have DCA reservations with park hoppers but receive a VQ return time before 11 am.

I am not sure if this has been answered.
Can you enter the virtual queue at both 7AM and 12 Noon? Are you limited to once a day? I read the HMH VQ but is does not say.

From the Disneyland website:

In order to give as many Guests as possible the opportunity to join the queue, each Guest can enter the virtual queue for a given experience no more than once per day, subject to availability.

Thank you. I have another question. Does the virtual queue give you a specific time to return? What if I am on another attraction or at my meal reservation can i postpone my spot? Not sure how this all works?!

It gives you a specific time to return - you won't be able to modify it. If you have with a reservation conflict, go ahead and enjoy the meal, then go to HMH after you're done and tell the CM at entry that you had a dining reservation - they'll let you go through. (I think some people used to screenshot their reservation beforehand to keep as proof, but I don't know that the CMs have been especially strict about it.)

How does the VQ work for Magic Keys? As it is we have to scan into a park just to buy Genie+ (I know it is separatefrom VQ, but the treatment is different from a ticket holder). So can I be at home at 7am and join the VQ then show up at 9 or 10am?

Per another Poster. Just at 7 AM be in the app to get into the Q

No need to be in the park just be in the App from anywhere

Our first day in the parks is 7/29. I’m super nervous about the VQ!! I haven’t had to try one in a year! (Since WDW last year) I hope we are able to get one. I love HMH!!

I'm just excited they say starting July 29th... I'll be there for the D23 Expo day on 8/8 and I was super-bummed it wasn't open last week when I was there (and yes, I knew it wasn't going to be available, but was still bummed).

Just wish it was the classic Mansion. I'm not a fan of the overlay because I love the classic... no disrespect to all those that love it though, I get it. But just having no regular Haunted Mansion for a whole year is painful... oh well..
