You know what would be hot! They should put in a Haunted House at Universal. The one at Disney is my favorite ride of all time, I got on it 14 times last time. 14!

Plus I've been to Halloween Horror twice and LOVE it!

So what do you think Universal would do with a Haunted House, where should it go, what should it feature, and do you think it will ever ever become a reality?

:-)

they had the Psycho house when Hitchcock was there......

The psycho house? i remember the hitchcock walk through. I don't remember the psycho house other than sitting in an audience and watching them recreate the shower scene.

Don't they have something like a haunted house at Universal Hollywood? It has to do with Van Helsing, right? I think this would be cool.:cool2:

Currently, Haunted Mansion at the mouse is down for rehab until....LATE AUGUST!!!!!

In the meantime, Universal having a haunted house could be cool, but I personally think it would take away from Halloween Horror Nights.

I actually think it would be the opposite....HHN would take away from it. Though Universal is built on the "classic" monsters...I would love to see a dark ride featuring them. A cheesey, haunted mansion style ride....nothing too intense. Something kids could go on and not be too scared. Heck, even bring back the Tram tour and make that a big part of it.

I would love to see this open at USO!

Universal Hollywood has House of Horrors.

All New "Universal's House of Horrors"

Universal Studio Hollywood's House of Horrors is a frightening, scream as you go, walk through experience inspired by some of the greatest Universal Studios horror movies of all time.

The most feared characters - like Dracula, Frankenstein, Chucky among many others -- will take you by surprise while you attempt to navigate your way through an ever-changing, terrorizing maze.

Now Open!

Be afraid . . . be very, very afraid!

On a side note isn't that not a very smart move on Disney's part to have their haunted house down through their busy summer season? That's a main attraction. One of my favorites!

Oh yeah....I'd be all over this! :scared1:

i still am holding out hope that the rather unusual 3+ month rehab will be to install the electrical etc. to allow Nightmare Xmas gang as in DL:wizard:

no interest in a walk thru haunted house @ U (too carny for my tastes); would like to see an edgey ride through. Not a VR & not as intense as The Mummy.

They have the rights to such great classic monsters:scared1: ; why not use them?

The downtime is to upgrade the sound and lighting on the ride. There is a rumor that there will also be some of the same upgrades that were done to the Disneyland haunted mansion. This would include the floating head of Madame Leota and the changes to the bride.

From what I have heard the WDW management does not want to do the holiday overlay due to the long downtime the ride would need. The Disneyland mansion is normally down all of September to do the install and then January to remove the overlay.

I would like a haunted house of some sort at Universal. But I remember walking through Van Helsing while it was at Universal Hollywood and while the sets looked great I don't remember wishing that there was something similar in Orlando. What I think would be better additions would be either WaterWorld or Backdraft.

I thought that Disney taking HM down for the summer was pretty insane too. Guess they want to sell Halloween party tics!

A year-round walkthrough attraction is unnecessary at USF due to the scale of HHN. USH has such an attraction because they didn't hold the event up until last year.

As for rides, I don't see them using the classic monsters in such a capacity, mainly because they are already utilized in ROTM, Beetlejuice and the Classic Monster Cafe.

House of Horrors just opened at USH this year so them holding HHN for the first time and this opening was pretty much the same time frame.

I don't think HHN and a haunted house exhibit would have any impact on each other. They could stand to have something of this nature year round not just one month out of the year. I have always felt they dont use their Monster appeal to its fullest! IMO Beetlejuice is the only 'real' use of the monsters. The Monster Cafe and ROTM aren't on the same page as a haunted walk through or ride through with the Universal Monsters. I dont think they are being utilized (good word!) to their fullest capacity. Just my opinion.

Didn't we recently have a thread on this or a similar topic? I have to look!

which is why i'm still hoping, 3 months during prime time is ODD to me; course i've got issues:upsidedow HM is my all time fav. ride (have doombugy license plate:) ).

wonder how long the van helsing attraction will last (hope @ least until we finally get out there; hopefully next summer).

there is something to be said for the classic U monsters, not as much gore in the old movies - still could be easily updated for today's audience's taste.

Van Helsing: Fortress Dracula opened at USH in 2004 and is already gone. The House of Horrors has replaced it. I think it opened in April.

I'd love to see this as a ride, but a walk through version doesn't really interest me. I'll take a ride over something I have to walk through regardless of the theme though.

oh well, @ least we have Grueden (i mean chucky :rolleyes1 ) to scare us.

ot - didn't someone here (amity?) have his pic in their sig? is he still @ Tampa Bay Bucs?
