Hatfields and McCoys

I'm a Hatfield descendant. I have tons of family in Pike County KY and I thought the accents didn't even sound remotely like what they are now much less more than 100 years ago.

historically accurate ...somethings were not.
First Asa Harmon was not shot in a cabin. He was hiding in a cave. The logan wildcats found him by following Harmon's slave who was the one bringing him food and water.

Pig trial Preacher Anse was the judge not Wall. Wall Valentine was Devil's grandfather...Uncle Wall Valentine was Devil's brother.

I had read they condensed the two judges into one because it doesn't really affect the story Line and makes things simpler for both filming and for audience to have one character instead of two.

That sort of thing is common , also cave/hovel- not a big deal. Having his kids find him instead of slave was a bit OTT but dramatic license I assume.

Timelines were a bit skewed, but I guess again formatting life to film comes with consequences. Pretty accurate I'd say though for a film, again not a documentary, a film.
