Hat rareness scale

I completely agree.

Yet I'm not completely bitter...

It was oh-so-very-rare for MONTHS... Heck, it was always rare up until May 2007 as the quest was so short and very hard. But this way the new players have an opportunity to own VMK history.

Okay, that makes sense. Though I guess they sort of "announced" the Minnie hat by selling it early for thirty minutes :rotfl:

ROFL, well we didnt know it was coming back, it was a mistake obviosly that we got it. I think we hurried their hand on that one LOL.

I know what you mean. It's a challenge to "do well" with items for sure, you just never know what they are going to throw at you. Be diverse!

I would put the pan hat, higher than the bird, lower than the flip

The princess mini hat was unannounced. No warning :) The green hat we knew at the beginning of the month (hat month, november 2005) when it would be available so we saved up.

Also, and I may be wrong here, wasn't the flip hat only 500 credits and the minnie hat 1000? People were able to get fewer of the princess hats than the flip hat.

I have always been puzzled about the "rare"-ness of items. I am under the impression that rare should be equated with limited availability as opposed to popularity, which equates to value. Just a thought.

Now, for those of us who were lucky enough to stumble on the minnie hat on the Tuesday that it was "accidentally" sold for about 30 minutes, that was (at least for me) the most hilarious week in VMK. Not knowing whether it would ever be released again, I was offered the most amazing trades. Of course, for that reason, it has always been my favorite VMK item.

The most difficult hat to get, sans stitch and sparrow, was the purple baseball hat. That quest, for me, was nearly impossible. Not because we didn't know the answers, but the DC monster kept eating us while we tried to get the ghosts needed in mansion. That was back when you were thankful to get through a game of mansion without disconnecting.

Yes. The red/purple baseball hat is probably as rare or rarer than the princess hat mainly because that quest was so difficult. And it was on a friday, which means that the most people couldn't even start the quest until after they got home from school/work. Which also means that fewer mules finished the quest. Many never even finished the quest once.
I think that in trades, they seem to be about equal value.

You are correct, another valid point!
