My kids have been so cute. DD(4) wants to workout with me when I exercise. Now she asks for her elmocize tape and the "curly hair guy" (Richard Simmons!:D ) almost every day and she exercizes on her own!!!

And I already posted this on the CB but.....

This morning, DS(8) was up before me, and brings me breakfast in bed!!! That isn't the only thing. I have been trying to loose wt, and the kids have been watching me as I measure out milk etc, in the mornings. so DS brings me the cereal and then tells me that he used the middle sized cup to measure the milk, and was that ok??? WHat a sweetheart!!!!!

DH has been working on loosing wt on his own, but we are getting out and walking more as a family now that it is nice.

How about your families???

When I was exercising to videos(Tae-bo, WOTP), both DDs exercised with me and was always asking if they were doing the moves correctly. They also loved having their own weights, when possible.

The funny thing is that DD#1 loves to draw. She was drawing a dinner table with breakfast on it. She gave herself, DD#2 and Dad a poptart...Mom got an apple;)

More than they would like, I'm sure. ;) Since I do the shopping, and the cooking, and since we do just about everything together as a family, (they will be joining the Y with us and will be attending while DH and work out) our changes have had a direct impact on their well being. Sometimes they get tired of it and want to eat like all their Friends, but I simply remind them where we live (FAT WAYNE, IN) and that normal here is about 30 lbs. overweight. They understand, but it is hard for them when their friends eat out ALL the time, and want to compare who's been where and so on. We are ALL committed to being healthy, so we can live a fuller life, without all the trappings of a BUSY lifestyle.

Princess V, what a sweet son you have and thoughtful too. Just think what a great influence you are already having on your children's health. I wish I had learned to love to exercise at age 4.

When I started on Atkins, I coerced my husband into starting too. He was reluctant (for about 4 days) and now he is even more strict than I am about it.

My brothers have both started Atkins too, plus my sil and mil have started in on it and having great results. Now my husband's cousin, who is so very large, has also begun. She is too big to even weigh herself, the scales don't go up to a high enough weight, but she is losing and can tell from her clothes. This could save her life. I love her so much, she is a beautiful person inside and out and I'm so happy that this is working for her.

Atkins has sort of had a "ripple effect" in my family. Isn't that great?

Good for you being such a great healthy example for your family.

Good for all you guys and your families!!! Princess Vija, I think your son is a sweetheart!!! And it's great that your DD wants to exercise too. Nothing wrong with teaching them healthy living habits when they are young!

believe, that is just too cute! Drawing a picture of you with an apple for your breakfast! Kids are so observant and funny!

Tracy, do you really live in a place called Fat Wayne or is the fat part something the locals added on? Peer pressure sucks! I hope your kids don't let the other kids bother them too much. It will pay off later when they are in the locker room at school and they don't feel embarassed about their bodies (not speaking from experience or anything...) ;) Joining the Y is a really great idea!!

Kath, it seems like Atkins is the best thing to have happened to your family (or one of the best things). I'm so happy to hear that everyone is jumping on that band wagon, especially the very large cousin. See what a great thing you started? :) Now all these wonderful people will have you to thank for their extended lives and good health!!! :) You are sooooooo sweet!!!!!!! :)

I think my DH is coming around to WW. As long as my folks live here, he will indulge in sweets, but as soon as they buy a new house and move out I'm sure he'll be on a modified WW program.

No. I live in Fort Wayne. We have the dubious distinction of being amongst the top 5 UNhealthiest cities in the nation for the past 3 years. (could be longer, that's just how long we've live here) Something like 72% of us are overweight and a significant portion of those are MORBIDLY OBESE. On the good side, we have excellent cardiac care, as well as great weight related pathology specialists. It's a pretty dull place with lots of restaurants!

OK! I'm outta here. Off to the Y!

Keep the Faith!
