Has your Disney Store turned into a...

If they sold more home stuff, housewares, paper products and the like I would shop there. DD still likes the princess stuff so I am good for that.

We have 2 Disney stores in our area, if you can call them that anymore  One was a gallery store. It had the neatest stuff. Now everything is stuffed animals and Princess stuff. I have a 6 month old dd and won't buy their over priced stuff.

Remember when the stores first came out and they had greeter's and the castmembers all looked like they were in the MM Club? Now they all look like slobs, with their big shirts untucked. No one even says hi to you anymore.

We visit ours once every few months and are always disappointed.

I wait until I go to WDW if I want anything. And even the market place is getting bad.

Yes, it's horrible - there is no need for me to go in anymore:o

I used to spend far too much money in the Disney store. I never got out of there for under $50 a visit. Then they closed the one near me and began to change the other stores in my area. On my last visit I couldn't find anything to spend my $$ on!!! I thought about doing the Treasure Planet preorder and getting the gift card if I spend $50, but I couldn't find things to add up to $50. The snowglobes were on one little display. There wasn't one adult clothing item in the whole store. I was so disappointed.

In the end I bought 3 shirts that were on sale for 50% off. Two were for my girls and one was for my niece.

I live in the Albany/Saratoga area of upstate NY. First they closed the one store closest to me and now the Bigger one has become a excuse the term, DUMP! I know they were phasing adult clothes out but are they phasing everything else out too? At the holidays I went to but DBL who is a fanatic a DVD and it was $6.00 more expensive at the DS than at Best Buy. Are THEY trying to kill their own business?

According to those in the "know" on the rumors board it all part of EisnersSell more plush plan.

That link made for interesting reading but I have to wonder if that is only limited to Canadian Disney Stores - still not sure if I will go out of my way to visit the stores anymore:(

Mines got way to many stuffed things as well. They need to have more of the clothing they offer online. I like to see what the items are like sometimes before I order.

The selection of adult anything is poor. Send overstock to the stores at sale priceses, most of us will buy it up! I love a bargain!

Actually it hasn't. The giant mountain of plush toys is now gone. It's replaced with some shelving with cheesy plastic princess toys. There's infant clothing and one small shelf with videos and CD's. It's really gone downhill. I expect it will close soon. :(

Ours is horrendous also - I don't even bother to go in. I used to find cute PJ's, collector watches, accessories, mugs....little things to bring me the Disney Magic between trips - Now I feel like I've wandered into Kay-Bee Toys after a cotton candy explosion....
Everything is cheesy, pink & plastic - except for the ever expanding mound of plush.....
I have a grand-nephew & 2 grandsons & I can't even shop for them at TDS anymore, much less myself or my guys....

Quick! Call that proctologist!

The last time I was at the Mall, I walked right passed our Disney Store.....I had never done that before!! I just don't need any more stuffed animals!

Mine has been a store full of stuffed animals and plastic crap for about the last 3 or 4 years. I don't even waste my time, unless I need Disney dollars.

When I go in there and ask the CMs about the store they look :( at the downward turn it's taken too!

Our store's been turned into stuffed animals & princess dress up clothes!!! That's it!! How can they turn a profit???

LAtely the only reason I stop by the Disney Store at the mall is optimism, pins and antenna toppers. There were no pins this past weekend and they said they don't know if they will have them back.

First they got rid of the art, now the pins are gone. There are two in our area and we were in one last night. Can't see any reason to go back.

We do find some good stuff at the Disney Catalog Outlet store in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Plenty of adult clothes, some housewares, a few collectibles, awesome prices. We got a free Monsters, Inc. print with our purchase last month.

Instead of bashing and avoiding the stores why don't you guys put your thoughts on paper and send them to someone who can maybe do something about it. Enough people complained about EE that they brought it back why not better merchandise in the stores!

It's also interesting to see how many people miss the adult merchandise, especially since it only accounted for about 5% of the profit when it was there!! I wonder how many people waited until the merchandise was marked down before they bought it, or said they'd think about it but never came back. I could go on and on but won't. I guess it's one of those things that people take for granted when they have it but complain when it's gone!

I would love to see more adult selections, I shopped there long before I had kids, but I don't see how staying out of the stores is going to help bring it back, that just confirms the fact that adults don't shop at TDS for themselves.

Ours has been that way for a very long time now. Once they got rid of the snowglobes and watches, I stopped going nearly as much. I still go but I don't make the trip downtown like I used to just to go there.

Two points...

1. Those DISers in the southern New Hampshire area... Keep your eye on Salem this summer. That's all I can say. If confronted, I will deny ever mentioning this. :p ;) :p

2. Does anyone know if TDS in Burlington still has art? I heard a while ago that it was the only one in the area that still had the good stuff. True? Or is it, too, a Pink Princess Land?

What about the one on Route 9 in Natick?? Is it still there? What's it like?

Thanks!

The Disney Store on Rt 9 in Natick is still there....there is the gallery section on one side with some pretty nice, pricey stuff...the other side is slowly turning into plastic princess land. I was in there about a month ago so I assume that it is still the same.
