Has your 2-year-old gone on 7DMT?

I just realized today that my youngest daughter (who just turned 2) might be tall enough to ride 7DMT when we go on our Disney World vacation this October. I had been assuming that she would be too short. I measured her height 6 weeks ago and she was 33 inches. But today she is 34 inches barefoot! So if she continues to grow at this rate (or even a rate close to it), then I think there's a good possibility that she might be 38 inches (especially with shoes on) in 6.5 months.

I am so excited to realize this! But I am also curious, have any of you taken a 2-year-old on 7DMT? Did they enjoy it, or was it scary for them? She is kind of a thrill-seeker and doesn't seem to be afraid of things like being tossed in the air by her dad or going down very large slides at playgrounds. I am also thrilled about the possibility that she might be able to ride Slinky Dog Dash with us, but I know that no one has taken their 2-year-old on that yet, so I can't ask for first-hand experiences on that quite yet

Mine was just over 3, she was generally scared riding it but enjoyed it and will always request to go on it again. She loves the part where it’s slow through the mine. Hope that helps some!

While it's not impossible that your daughter will grow that much, I wouldn't count on it. My kids always had growth "spurts". They would shoot up an inch or two almost overnight and then not grow at all for almost a year. But since you said she's your "youngest", you obviously have at least one other kid, so you may know better.

I think you'll just have to wait and see. Kids that young often have lower inhibitions than older kids, so a kid might love a ride at 2, then hate it at 4 and love it again at 6 (or vice versa). My youngest rode 7DMT for the first time when she was 6 and she didn't like it. But I've seen many kids in the range of 4 years that seem to love it. I don't think I've seen any that looked as young as 2 though...

My 2 year old loved barnstormer but wasn’t tall enough for mine train until he was 3. He loved barnstormer at 2 and mine train at 3! I’m sure he would have loved mine train at 2 had he been tall enough

We are leaving in a couple days and my 2 year old daughter is definitely tall enough (38" without shoes) so I'll let you know We have FP+ for it!

My cousin took her son on 7DMT at 2. He was just a bit over 38” and she had to keep holding his head back to keep him from face from hitting the restraint. He did okay though and did not seem scared.

At 4, he hated ToT, but was okay on all the coasters we were able to take him on.

FYI: At 5, the kid is 48” tall.

We took our 2 (three weeks away from 3) year old on 7DMT. Best ride photo ever! Her nail marks are probably still on the lap bar.

But in all seriousness, I did put my arm around her head just to sort of cushion the movement around the turns and stops, since little ones aren’t so good at knowing / adjusting to the g-forces.

She didn’t hate it, but she didn’t love it either.

My son was a roller coaster nut when he was young (still is today at 23). He went on as many roller coasters as he could as soon as he met the height requirement.

DD was the other way, she is not a roller coaster fan no mater what her height was.

If your DD is excited and tall enough, I say go for it!

Can you show her some POV videos beforehand? I know it won't be the same as riding the ride, but maybe that way she'd get some idea of it's an absolute NO for her!

My daughter is also a roller coaster nut! She went on at 2yrs 8mos and loved it! My only advice is to put your arm around her because the seats are hard and you don’t want her to bump her head.

7DMT is a great first roller coaster! Now that my daughter is 5 it’s too tame for her. She’ll tolerate it for my sake, but prefers RnR.

My son rode it at 2 and 3. He loved it both times. When 2, it was I think 2-3 months before his 3rd birthday. He is a little thrill junkie though. He also rode test track and dinosaur at 3 and wanted to go back for more.

We have an exceptionally tall son as well. He was able to do a lot of 42” rides at 3.5. While he enjoyed many, I found like others have said, I spent most of my time securing him some way. It was like his long lanky baby body (while tall enough) wasn’t developed or strong enough for the rides. But that was just my guy, no telling how yours will do! If I could go back in time I would have skipped some more intense ones such as BTMRR and Star Tours.

He is 5 and 48.5” now and we are skipping rocking roller coaster and primeval whirl. His mom is a physical therapist and she insisted!

Again this is just our experience and point of view. You know your kid best and your judgment is best for your situation.

I think it completely depends on your 2 yo. My daughter was 2 and tall enough to ride when we were there last but she did not ride, as I did not want to chance spooking her, as she did not enjoy barnstormer and is skittish when it comes to rides. So I would start with milder rides and see how he does.

My 3.5 year old was terrified but every kid is different. It’s not very long so even if she is scared/doesn’t like it it won’t last long.

In 2016 on our 3rd MK day and after we rider swapped with our then 5 year old I realized our 2 year old was tall enough. Mommy was tired of riding it so I took the girls on it many many times and it was my little ones absolute favorite ride! Last year she was able to ride ToT and loved it also. Our kids are scared of nothing.

My 2.5 year old wasn't tall enough to ride, she will barely be tall enough for this trip and she just turned 4. That being said, she would've loved it. she really enjoyed Barnstormer, and said she wished it was faster. She is kind of a craziness junkie, she tends to orchestrate unbelievably dangerous things out of normally mundane items. For example, 2 mothers days ago when she was 2, she took the sit on toy we had in the backyard and dragged it up the swing-set ladder while DH and i were in the garage getting ready to pot flowers. As i walked out of the garage, i saw her sit on the little cart and ride it down the slide. My heart almost stopped! She is just an adrenaline junkie, even more so than her older sister and that daughter LOVES roller coasters. Honestly, you know your kid best, and the fact that you have booked the FP makes me think you child may be like ours and just be that type of kid. If so, i would say you've probably got alot of years of visiting theme parks ahead of you! LOL!!

She is my 4th kiddo, but she is my only one that has been tall her whole life! She has been in the 90%ile since birth, and her siblings are all 30-50%ile. So having a tall one that seems to grow fast is new for me! I am definitely not counting on her being 38 inches at that point, but it just is a fun realization that it's even a possibility. The last time we went to WDW... which was 6 years ago... her big sister was almost 3 and BARELY 35 inches (I only remember because she just hit the mark for Barnstormer which we all loved riding together )

Basically, all the advice seems to boil down to "it depends on the kid." My twins are thrill seekers who went nuts for barnstormer and 7DMT at 3, and at 5 as soon as they hit the height limit had the time of their lives on Expedition Everest and Space Mountain. In contrast, my two year old freaked out, and not in a good way, during the little dip and splash on pirates of the Caribbean, and even the tea cups was too intense for him if I used the spinning wheel it so we ride it without spinning. So for him, we know not to attempt a coaster with him for a while. I say, work your way up to with less intense rides it and see if your little one is the kind of kid who likes the slower or the faster rides better before you take on seven dwarves.
