Has Wifi in the parks gotten any better?

Hi all. Last time I was at DL (2018) the wifi in the parks seemed spotty at best. Now with Genie+, it seems like reliable access to the internet is now a must have instead of just a nice to have.

I’d rather not have to pay my Canadian cell provider an extra $12/day to access my data, but if you tell me that the wifi in the parks is sub-optimal, I’ll do it.

Thx.

For me it's $7 per day to use my data. Which I'd suck up if it wasn't that I've never found international roaming data to work properly there!

The park still does not have wifi in most areas.

If you only need data for Genie+ and don't plan to watch videos or anything too data intensive, it'll probably be cheaper to buy a prepaid SIM card with data assuming your phone isn't carrier locked.

Take this for what it's worth, but the last time I was at DLP or DCA proper, the Wi-Fi was strong and I had no problem accessing the Disneyland app. This year we made a couple of trips where we walked along the esplanade (and watched fireworks) as well as went to Downtown Disney. There wasn't a single place where I didn't find strong Wi-Fi. I was primarily using an Wi-Fi only iPad so cellular data wasn't an option, and it worked great.

However, I can't say how good it might be inside as it's been a couple years.

Thx, all. I’ll give the wifi a shot and if it’s not strong enough to use the app and deal with urgent emails from the office, I’ll suck it up and use my data roaming.

We had trouble with it on our New Zealand phones was very hit and miss. Even our international roaming didn't work well.

Couldn't look at the app most the time when in lines as it wouldn't work.

I would get a USA Sim with data

Yeah Kirsty I've tried that too several times, the providers assured us it would work, but nope never has. I found there were particular spots where wifi worked in each park and I'd make my Maxpass selections there. Now it seems you have to use your phone a lot more....it's a frustrating issue for a Kiwi visitor!

Reminder that the USA signal changed this year. If you do not have a 5G phone then the signal (if you get any) will be crap. So even if you get a USA sim with data it is no guarantee that it will do you any good.

Idk what the deal was, but for us if we were connected to Disney WiFi that app would randomly have major issues like being stuck in a log in loop. We did much better using our data and did that... except we had almost zero service in our DLH room.. but did not have that issue on the hotel WiFi.
