I washed my shirts ahead of time, no fabric softener or bleach. I ironed on the transfer, then washed them in vinegar and dried them and some of the transfers are cracking already:mad:
It seems the ones from Michaels were the worst but I'm not sure what brand they are. Did I do something wrong? Has this happened to anyone else?

you didn't wash them in pure vinegar did you? did you put a cup of vinegar in the wash water and do a regular washing machine wash? just trying to understand better exactly the steps you took.

My guess would be that you didn't iron the image long enough. Just a guess though. If the shirt is ruined anyway, you might try to re-iron with tissue paper (like you wrap presents with) over the design. There is a shiny side and a dull side. Put the shiny side down and make sure not to make the iron too hot or the tissue paper might stick a little.

There is a lot of room for error doing this, so if your shirts are ok, I wouldn't do it. If you do decide to do it, with practice you will appreciate this technique if you make a lot of shirts.

Good luck.

I am having the same problem. I have followed all the directions. I don't understand why they would be doing this. I ironed the transfers on for a little longer than the directions indicated. Do you have to double the time? This is very frustrating.

I washed about 4-5 shirts together that I had made with one cup of vinegar. I felt like I ironed triple the time or longer then it said, maybe it still wasn't long enough or could it have been too long? I'm not totally discouraged yet, just think WOW all that work and money on the shirts and transfer paper. I wouldn't say they are ruined but they sure aren't going to last long. Actually the ones I did with transfer paper from Michaels look worse then the ones with paper from Walmart, that surprised me. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Hoping they turn out better next time. I was going to do at least 4-6 more.
