Last week I was at Universal/IOA and everytime I went through the scanner to get in, my fingerprint wouldn't register. My husband and children would go through just fine, then when it was my turn, I would put my pointer there, no reading. We would then try the thumb, nothing. The attendant would then tell my husband to use his fingerprint, and that's how I got in.

I am curious if this has happened to anyone else or do I just have goofy fingerprints?

I think everyone has had that problem at one time or another. It's very frustrating especially when there's a long line to enter and the TM insists on trying the scan 50,000 times before letting you through.

I think it was 100,000 for me! Thankfully it has only happened once. DH tends to be the one who has trouble.

My wife does. We just use my my daughters other finger as here.

Sometime I press too hard. Sometime I put my finger too far up on the scanner. Eventually it works but what a waste of time.

My DW finger scan never works, they try her thumbs on both hands and 2 fingers on each hand multiple times , never seems to work for her, they usually just let her through -eventually.
If you are behind us ine line, make sure you jump to another one :rotfl2:

That has happened to me a few times but usually gets my youngest DS and he ges embarassed and tears up because people start moaning and groaning behind him and when he finally gets through I tell him it happens to us all and don't worry we are on vacation and there to have fun :thumbsup2

i have the issues on some trips also.
my scan for my ap doesn't always work........

I had to laugh when I saw your tag. I just found a picture of me from about 17 years ago. I thought I was pretty hot looking--my DD 15 looked at the pic and said," what's up with your big hair?!":lmao:

never heard of that happening before.

What gets me is there is a picture on the AP's so I hate it when they try and scan my finger 187 times... Just look at the damn picture!!!

Exactly...that's why I wish they still had the photo passes...I'm glad mine still has a picture.

Same here! The finger scanner never works for me and I have a picture AP. When it is apparent the scanner isn't workingon my finger, I show the TM my picture AP and and usually, they still make me try toscan my finger a few more times. DH has been good at scoping out the turnstyles where the TMs are using the hand held scanners and no finger scan is required. Those lines move much more quickly!

Are they doing away with the pictures?

I know for the Premium AP's in October, they took my picture....

Premier Passes still have pictures on them. New Preferred APs & New Power Passes do not.

Yes...they stopped doing pictures on the Preferred in 2006 I think. The last one I took was in 2005 when my original pass broke.

Ah that explains it.

I was happy when I renewed my family's preferred pass they just extended the old ones with their picture on it, as appose to issuing new passes altogether.

Yeah...as long as you keep renewing the one you have, you don't to get a new one.

I think the finger scanners are probably the worst technology they have ever come up with in terms of servicing the customer. From the customer's point of view all the scanners do is slow you down and inconvienience you.
From the business point of view this technology is great since it cuts down on after market resales.

We were at US/IOA a couple of weeks ago with a side trip to Sea World. Some of the longest lines we waited in were the turnstiles to enter the parks.
Sea World was worse that US.

A hint if you are having trouble with the scanner... did you apply make-up or sunscreen shortly before arriving at the park. DW did and had trouble with the scanner. After vigorously rubbing her finger on her pants it was finally read.
