Has there been a recent 'kitchen useage' poll done? I have never been able to make the search feature on the boards work for me so I'm not sure.

I'd love to see a poll of kitchen useage by DVC owners and their experiences.

Use it for Breakfast/popcorn only
Make one meal a day (besides breakfast)
Lunch only
Dinner only
Cook most meals
Really cook or make sandwiches/ heat up stuff

Our first stop after MCO is always the grocery store. We stock up on soda, milk, cereal, juice, chips, coffee, and snacks. We use the kitchen for cereal, coffee, nachos, and occasionally the teens will heat up something like a frozen pizza. I think I've cooked one actual meal at OKW in 14 years. Oh, and we used the grills at Turtle Pond once.

Our habits are EXACTLY like yours. Make sandwiches and heat things up.

Breakfast - Sometimes we make breakfast (eggs, sausage, candian bacon), sometimes it's just cereal.

Lunch - If we're at the parks, we grab something there. If at the resort, we make sandwiches or heat up a pizza. I also try and get some frozen veggies and fruit just so the kids can get something 1/2 way decent.

Dinner - We almost always eat dinner out somewhere on property. Can't miss the Pepper Market!!! ;)

It's funny you asked! I am getting my "Garden Grocer" list ready for our April trip. I started to order stuff to make meat loaf and mashed potatoes, and then thought...NAH! How sad is that??? :confused3 I know we could save money if we ate in more often, but part of what we enjoy at Disney is trying different restaurants and going to our favorites!

The most we did last summer at OKW was make a frozen pizza, a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches. We don't really cook while there. We buy bagels, cold cereal, maybe frozen waffles if we are there several days to a week. I try and stay away from frozen foods in the summer because by the time we get to the resort and into our villa stuff starts to thaw. We use the fridge for drinks, beer/water and such.... cheese, cream cheese stuff like that. I know some people actually cook but if we did that...I would have to be on a extended stay of at least 2 weeks in one villa to even think about making a dinner. :rotfl: I don't feel the villas have everything I would like them to have for me to cook a real meal.

Vacation is not about cooking IMHO. The kitchen is great for breakfast and snacks. We will sometimes make some sandwiches for lunch if we're at the pool or taking a mid-day break.

When my kids were younger I would occasionally make something simple for them like pasta before a late dinner reservation or so I was sure they ate something before they were too distracted by characters at dinner time!!

Sorry folks - - cooking on vacation is on my list. We always have breakfast, usually lunch at the pool and dinner's - well my list is very long - -
we always have a big cook-out for everyone - ham - potato salad - etc. etc.

We have had more dinner's than I can count at OKW - thank goodness for the kitchen - - our vacations are all about relaxing - - - have breakfast when you get up or want it - - lunch around the pool - and dinner whenever its ready - we try and not lost much pool time.
Dinner's - Lasagne - Stew - Steak - Burgers - Brisket - Corned Beef - etc. etc. etc.

I love the kitchen at OKW

I love having the kitchen but you will never see me ever cooking anything in it. I will pour a bowl of cereal, make a PB&J sandwich, reheat leftovers but never full out cook anything. We use the fridge and microwave mostly.

Eating out is part of being on vacation for us.

I agree with cc1075! I love to cook especially for the masses!! I usually make breakfast to order. We've had full meals and enjoyed each other's company. This July we are planning a game night complete with dinner first. Our group will all be going in separate directions so we figured this would be a good opportunity to regroup and laugh a lot!

Considering eating out now seems to cost us at $100 per dinner at WDW we did use the kitchen at SSR on our first DVC vacation. We loved it! We ate a big breakfast almost every day, DH cooks that. We had dinner there twice. Once was frozen Publix lasagna (better than Stoffers, IMO) and the second time was just hotdogs and baked beans. In May we plan on using the girlls at least once. My kids really get tired of eating out all the time. That is one of the reasons we bought DVC (small reason).

We like for our trips to be more leisurely. I don't like having to go out every night for dinner, so to us the kitchen is great.

Well we have only stayed at our resort once, but we did both- cooked and ate out. We made a couple of breakfasts(pancakes, eggs), also made dinner a couple of times(tacos, hot dogs). We will probably always do this- depending on our schedule. If we are going to be at the parks all day- we eat there, if we are at "home" we eat there. I usually have all of this planned ahead(way ahead!!- I have vacation OCD:lmao: :lmao: ) We don't cook at home alot- so it's not so bad to do it on vacation for us.

It varies with us. Some trips I do cook, other trips it is simple breakfasts and sandwiches.

While other folks who live in my area may disagree, overall we find the dining options in Seguin quite limited, so going to WDW we usually always dine out at our favorite restaurants, especially for lunch. We even like the POP Century food court for light dinner options, since we usually have a car.

But breakfasts are almost always in the room, usually cereal, fruit, & toast, but occasinally I'll make a full breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes, etc.

If you want to see a poll like that, just set it up that way, and it will be easier to read the "results" than just trying to read through everyone's responses.

So far we use the microwave more than anything.

We have done breakfast.....never lunch or dinner.....YET.

Ha! I was looking at the we go shop list and had the same thought. In real life, it'll never happen. Better to recognize it now before all that money is wasted on groceries that have to be thrown away. SEE! We actually saved money :rotfl:

But I do love the kitchen and wouldn't dream of giving it up for a studio.
