Has the 'Magic" been lost since purchasing?

Hi Everyone

We are on the fence right now about purchasing and one huge concern I have is that we find our visits to Disney absolutely magical each time we have been.

I really am wondering if that "Magic" will be lost if we visit every single year?????

Can anyone share their personal experiences???

no - they are even better.

I mean you won part of the "magic" - I LOVE it!!!

other guests are trying to pack so much into it that they are losing the little things all around them.

it is so nice to visit your special place and know that each and every year you can come back if you want too....

Not at all. We purchased OKW in 1993, so we were among the lucky ones to have the park passes included through 1999. Every trip we laugh, because of our famous quote: "By 1999 we'll have been here often enough and the kids will be older (11 and 14) so we won't need to visit the parks any more. We can just use the points to trade out to other places." Yeah right.

The ONLY time we have used points for anything other than a DVC resort was for a Disney cruise!

Oh, and we now have about 4 times the original number of points we bought. The kids are 16 and 19 now and still love to go as much as ever, as do DH and I...

Every trip, DH has to stop at all the DVC sales booths and talk to the CMs working there and add his two cents to whatever is being said to a prospective buyer.

Still lovin' it!!! And, yes, it's still magical... ::yes:: ::yes::

Although we try to visit all the parks every visit we also find something new to do every trip. Our last visit was in Oct for the F&WF, we did PFTS for the third time but it was different than the previous years. We did the Signature Dinner and another dinner (don't remember what it was called) for the first time. We also rode horses on a Trail Ride, liked it so much we did it twice! Last year we did a Lunch & Learn for the first time, and were going to do it again this year but had a scheduling conflict and had to cancel. One year we did a Back Stage tour, got to see behind the scenes at Epcot and MK. Last June we did the Water Mice for an hour from OKW. I still want to do the Epcot Segway Tour at least once. There are so many things to do that I don't ever think the Magic will wear off.

Oh, no. The magic is greater! You see, we'd try to visit every three years or so and we'd pack each vacation from morning until evening. And each time, we'd say, "The next time we're going to take it easy, not go to the parks as much, and relax more and enjoy the resort." But of course, we'd do the same thing each time. Now that we're members, we find ourselves going more often and we don't feel the necessity to pack every spare minute. DH & I are actually going down twice this year, once by ourselves and once with the kids. We fully intend (and will) enjoy our beautiful home and maybe go to the parks just for dinner, or just to a favorite attraction.

You see, being members has reduced our stress of "seeing & doing everything" each time. Plus, we've been on two cruises which is a completely different Disney experience. No regret, only thanks that we were able to be part of this magnificent DVC family.

I think the magic is increased with ownership.
Your trips are more relaxed. You can actually sit and enjoy the little things. You don't have to pack every attraction and every show into a trip with the thought that you may not be back.

DH and I are planning a spring trip just to enjoy the pool. No park hopping, no running around, just the pools...there'll be park time on the following trip.

The magic left me with the many changes to the parks that have been made in the last few years. The only magic left is the weather in january which is just great.

We've only been going to WDW for the past 6 years. We love each trip. As we go more, we don't stress as much about seeing everything. So now that we go about once a year, we enjoy it even more!

As others have said, the magic grows instead of deminishing. We have been members since 1997 and our "kids" are 29 and 35, so that wasn't the reason we continue to go to WDW! We just love the place and like doing different things on each trip. We usually do at least one behind the scenes tour (this time it was the Segway tour), and just like to soak-in the details of Disney! The only thing that has changed since joining DVC is that now instead of going once everyother year, we go multiple times a year!

I have only been a member since 2003 and we're going "home" for the first time in 9 days! We have 2 trips planned for next year, 1 week in May for the Flower & Garden Festival and 1 week in Oct. for the Food & Wine Festival. I have been to WDW about 8 times, not much compared to most on these boards. But I have never come back to NJ without saying, "That was great, when are we going again!" Now, as a DVC owner we have 3 trips planned in one calender year and we can't wait!!!

Disney Canuck, it seems as if you're planning on being disappointed...If you do that, it may happen.

You aren't going to find many people here (Pa is the exception) for whom this is true. But people do get "burned out" on Disney. My sister did after about seven trips over five years (not a DVC member) - and I think its going to take my nephew reaching his toddler years for her to renew the magic.

If you are concerned (as I am - I enjoy Disney, but not so much I want to spend weeks there every year), think about an every other year plan. We do this and it works great. In our off years we do something else - DCL cruising is our choice while the kids are little - looks like we MIGHT end up in Sweden this summer. If we need more of a Disney fix than the number of points and our every other year plan allows, we can always rent points or stay for cash at one of Disney's resorts - so far it hasn't happened. If you do decide every year, think about a few small contracts rather than one big one - easier to sell if you want to back off.

DVC does change the style of travel for a lot of people - from commado to relaxing.

The key for my family is being able to mix our vacations up. We love Disney and always have. Even before we had our four kids, we went to Disney (went there on our honeymoon).

The magic has been enhanced since purchasing because we get better rooms and it saves us money. We are fortunate enough to be able to take different types of vacations. This February we are going somewhere completely different and in April we are going on a cruise. This keeps trips to WDW fresh for us.

DVC brings us more magic b/c of the beautiful accomadations that we know are secured for our visit each year. We love the one and two bedroom villas. They really let us spread out and feel relaxed. We also mix things up each vacation now that we know we will be going at least once a year. We are more relaxed in the parks and enjoy pool time especially. This year we are bringing my parents and have a fishing excersion, golf outing, boat rental, horseback riding and surrey bike riding on our list of must-dos'. We also added a night/day at AKL for our 4yo DD who does not remember her week long visit there as a 2yo but really wants to see the animals. We all love planning our visit and knowing our accomadations are paid for is very nice.

Another vote for the magic getting better each time - lack of stress not having just a bed to go back to, to sit on the edge to watch tv while we all trip over one another. The fact that the kids each time are at a different stage in their lives, interested in different things, willing to try things this time that they hadn't last time...it's amazing. And SHARING it, with family and friends - the ability to do that simply cements it for us - this is the best thing we ever purchased, ever. Not a single regret (other than I wish I had more points! LOL!)

Disney Canuck, I think we get even more excited with each trip we book. Half the fun is deciding where to stay because there are so many options. You don't have to "rush around" as others were saying also. You can take your time and really enjoy yourself because you know that you will be back again, and again and again....ect! Good luck in your decision!

Put me down in the "getting better every time" group!

It's important to note that the DVC resorts themselves now have become part of our vacation...more than just a place to crash. The amenities, the slower pace that so many have mentioned...all add up to a great vacation experience.

For me, the "magic" in a WDW trip is the release of stress and the transporting to another world completely. In that regard, DVC has made our trips even more magical!

One more vote for "even better"

Trip planning is half the fun. The anticipation of each trip builds every time.

The icing on the cake is checking out without a whopping, big bill on the credit card! Makes us plan the next trip right away, instead of paying off a trip before thinking about returning.

Get off that fence and jump in with both feet! You can always sell it later.

There are many ways that owning DVC has added to our enjoyment of life! The Magic continues for us and grows.

Yes-Better, Better, Better! Before DVC, we'd taken about 15 trips to WDW, all orchestrated by me, with DH "tolerating" the trips. Finally, I talked him in to joining DVC ("whatever you want to do is fine, dear"-then back to watching football). DH was so uninterested, he didn't even go on the sales tour with me. Now he loves our trips to Disney, actually looks forward to our vacations there. And I enjoy Disney more with a more "participating" DH. He tells everyone how joining DVC was the best thing we ever did. And I have to agree.

One more vote for better. We are members since 1992 and as soon as we finish one trip, we are planning and looking foward to our next. I once suggested that we take a year break from WDW - my family thought I was crazy. We also do something new each year and as other posters have stated we take time to look for and enjoy the little things. And there is always HHI and Vero.
