Has the Lost Continent had it's day?

Does anyone still enjoy this section at IOA?

I've visited IOA the last two years and it kind of seems like this 'land' sticks out like a sore thumb in how underwhelming it is, when you compare it to the quality of Marvel, Harry Potter, J Park etc. I'm not even sure what story it's trying to tell, or even what the general theme is? It's just kind of......old maybe.....or mythical....or something?

Me personally would like to see it go and replaced with the mushroom kingdom now they have the Nintendo license.

There's just not much there anymore. I wouldn't be surprised to see it absorbed into one of the surrounding lands one day.

Was the Dragon Challenge part of the Lost Continent before HP was built?

Yep,the Lost Continent was much bigger including the former Dueling Dragons coaster now called Dragon Challenge.I do miss the old Enchanted Oak restaurant in the Lost Continent, that was my favorite place to eat at IOA.

Flight of the Hipogriff was also part of Lost Continent (forget the old name, though).

I don't want it to go away for the dual reason of the area music and Mythos.

Flying unicorn.

If it got absorbed into another land it wouldn't bother me too much. However you've gotta admit the theming in that area is top notch!

The water vomiting Greek god rock head is fun and the guardian griffin things too.

I regret never eating in the Enchanted Oak. It was open when we first went but we missed it out thinking we could go again following year.........typical.

I would miss Mythos if they ever changed that......it is one impressive building......and great food too :thumbsup2

Yep, I do not want Mythos to go either. We had a great lunch again there today.

I'm sure they could just re-theme Mythos to something else. Maybe a lair of some sort? There must be something Seuss related that would work.

I find it a welcome respite from the madness and crowds in the rest of the park. I, for one, would be sad to see it go.

I love the theming in Lost Continent. It was beautiful and I would hate to see it go. Maybe revamp it a bit??

I wish they would revamp the area...AS much as I love Harry Potter , I don't think we need anymore of it .The theming of Lost Continent was fantastic. The original queue for Dueling Dragons was much better, Mythos theming is incredible .I think the area has so much potential other than Potter.

I'm not really a huge fan of Lost Continent's current state. It was cool when it at least had Dueling Dragons and Merlinwood and such, but now that that's the much better Harry Potter area, the entire area is just "meh". I'd personally like it to be replaced with a Middle Earth area, which I've seen rumored many, many times. A big Gringotts/RotM style ride would be really cool there, and a small peaceful carriage ride through a replica of the Shire would even be a great family ride/ride to wind down in. I could also potentially see the Nintendo area going there, but I still feel like that's destined to be at Toon Lagoon. (I can go on longer about how Nintendo makes perfect sense there, but I don't wanna go off topic.)

Nintendo is going into Kidzone at the Studios.

Is this confirmed? That seems unlikely. Nintendo's biggest advantage is that it attracts people of ALL ages, so simply making a kid area based off them would be a massive waste of potential and of IP.

Plus, Kidzone at least has a reason to exist, with an area for kids to play. Meanwhile Lost Continent and Toon Lagoon are sorta just there, not adding much. I think Nintendo should go there, tbh.

It is as confirmed as it can be at this point....nothing happening for a few years yet. It is going to be a family area, not a kid area. The space available there is huge compared to Lost Continent.

Ah, that is true. I was worrying that the Nintendo area would just be a facelifted version of those playgrounds and stuff back there. A more family focus based off Nintendo makes a lot more sense. I do wonder what this means for the fate of E.T., though.
