Has the cobra been found yet?

I'm at my office here in Orlando, FL.

I just picked my feet up off the floor after I read this post. :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

Orlando? Well, if I were a snake in New York, that's where I would head. :)

But seriously! That gives me goose bumps. We have rattle snakes here, but at least you get a warning before they strike. I'm pretty sure cobras give no advanced warning. Hope they find it soon.

Not found yet! Hopefully he doesn't make his way to PA. It is pretty cold out though, I don't see him surviving long.

The subway tunnels are toasty warm in NYC in winter. They travel for miles. There are plenty of mice & rats. He could live for years down there, if he finds his way down there.

As well fed and taken care of as those snakes are it could be a long time till they find it! My friend who keeps snakes has had them get loose and not found them for weeks, especially when he lived in his older house. He never keeps poisonous though.

Maybe with the poisonous ones they need to implant a chip that could be traced so if this ever happens again they could locate it.

Just one more thing to add to the list of weird stuff that lives in the NYC subway lines and sewer lines.

Seriously, how is this thing still MIA? Terrifying!

do you have any idea how small a space a snake can crawl into? How well they can wrap around pipes? wiring?

they can't go ripping apart the reptile house just to find a snake, especially since I don't think this is and endangered species or anything.. It will either come out or die. and having workers rooting around looking for it is a very good way to get someone bit when they accidentally reach their hand into an opening because they can hide and you won't see it until you touch it or it strikes you.

:scared1: That would be pleasant!

I understand why it hasn't been found but it's still frightening. Very very frightening.

I am going to NYC in April - I think if I don't hear that the snake is found that this statement will be enough to make me take taxis instead of the subway!

Sounds like the makings for a SyFy Saturday night movie!!!!

I wonder how it got out of it's enclosure. You'd think a cobra cage would be pretty tightly sealed. I guess maybe a latch was left unlatched and the snake pushed open the lid or something :confused3.

I'd hate to be that zookeeper.

I'm watching it with interest. Having been in the Reptile House--there are plenty of nooks and crannies.

He will appear eventually. But I'm not rushing to the Zoo anytime soon.

I love the reptile house.

I love that zoo. Hope they find it soon so they can reopen reptile house.

He can take down an adult elephant in 3 hours and a human being in 15 minutes.

Ari on CNN was wondering why people were not more concerned about the deadly snake missing. He was hysterical.

Maybe they are keeping quiet about a dead snake feeder. :ssst:

I bet you hes in that coin thing. You know, the one where you put a coin in, and it goes around and around till it dissapears... I think they have one in the Reptile Habitat... unless its just the Mouse House....

Maybe someone will find it in their toilet. There was a snake in our toilet before :/

I wonder if someone that works there stole it. I think it's really odd that they are not saying how the snake got out. Did this cross anyone else's mind?

Based on the size of some of those rats, can you imagine how big it would get? Then again, it might get big enough to face off against the subway alligator ;)
