Not lifted by certain topics have historically been allowed to continue.
By certain topics, do you mean gay topics?
I'll quote Anne Hathaway:
"Love is a human experience, not a political statement."

I understand this line of thinking. I think that what some people take an issue with, though, is that certain topics are allowed to continue for multiple pages. Then, if one person posts an opposing view, they do end up getting attacked and, in many cases, points from the moderators. But if you are on the other side of the topic, you are good to go.There ya go. I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing social issues. I'd like to think we can talk about things a little more complex than ice cream flavors, even while disagreeing. I'm intrigued with the thought processes of people with different opinions. Even if it angers me, at the end of the day, I'm a more well-informed person by understanding the way the other side thinks. For example, I remember reading here that a person felt that those without health insurance should be left to die. Well now...there is a thought process that I did not know existed!![]()
There has been a policy for a few years prohibiting discussions of politics and religion. Has that now changed???

The personal is political. It is completely inconsistent to allow discussion of gay marriage and abortion but not gun rights, free speech, and taxes or vice versa. These are all personal issues that are legislated.
That's like looking away from a trainwreck! If you think a topic is getting political, you can always report it. Or not read it.

The abortion topic yesterday was closed on page 3.
I hate the idea of banning anything - but the last few political cycles were simply evil on the Community Board.
Ugly, name calling, yuck,
Human Rights issues to me have little to do with politics or religion.
For instance - If you are religious - what could overturning DOMA possibly have to do with you? No one is asking you to change, or to change what you believe in?
Especially if it is a hot subject.Heck, sometimes the worse in people comes out when we are discussing Disney.Especially if it is a hot subject.
