Has The Ban Been Lifted?

There ya go. I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing social issues. I'd like to think we can talk about things a little more complex than ice cream flavors, even while disagreeing. I'm intrigued with the thought processes of people with different opinions. Even if it angers me, at the end of the day, I'm a more well-informed person by understanding the way the other side thinks. For example, I remember reading here that a person felt that those without health insurance should be left to die. Well now...there is a thought process that I did not know existed!

And yet, the Supreme court is still involved.


Fact is, there are plenty of social issues that people can claim should not be political. They still are. Difference is, certain ones are allowed to go on for 10+ pages here and others get locked after 3. This is a private board with moderators who are allowed to let threads continue while they lock others completely at their discretion. However, it is clear that there isn't a real "no politics or religion" policy.

I understand this line of thinking. I think that what some people take an issue with, though, is that certain topics are allowed to continue for multiple pages. Then, if one person posts an opposing view, they do end up getting attacked and, in many cases, points from the moderators. But if you are on the other side of the topic, you are good to go.

Oh, and for the record, I am actually on the same side of the gay marriage debate as many of the mods have voiced. I'm just not a fan of the inconsistency on some issues.

The personal is political. It is completely inconsistent to allow discussion of gay marriage and abortion but not gun rights, free speech, and taxes or vice versa. These are all personal issues that are legislated.

Human Rights issues to me have little to do with politics or religion.

The problem with that question is it cannot be answered on this board without getting the poster in trouble for discussing religion.

I would love to be able to discuss more controversial topics here. I enjoy reading others' opinions. There are political forums elsewhere, but this board moves fast, and I feel that its a nice representation of America.

Like the time that I tried to use my Fast Pass after the return time but the cast member was nice enough to let me in, anyway. Then, I had to duck out of line to go to the bathroom and people got mad when I tried to get back in line with the rest of my group but we didn't care because we were a Brazilian tour group who just chanted louder than the other guests could complain.

This is someone else's sandbox. We're all just playing in it.

Aside from renting my eyeballs for the purposes of selling advertising, I contribute nothing to the cost or upkeep of the board. Thus, if TPTB want to decree tomorrow that we all must post only in Pig Latin, that is my choice to accept or not, but that's about where my control of the situation ends.
