All I have ever heard about contracting lyme disease was that it came from ticks. Right???

Today at work a co-worker swears that a neighbor's child had bites all over him and the doctor told the mother that the child has lyme disease from mosquito bites. Someone is mistaken. It did concern me that maybe something had changed and the public had not been warned. I told her I would do a search to see if anything came up about mosquitos but I also told her that I thought someone had their info completely wrong!! LOL!!

Bites, is she sure they aren't a rash?

hmmm-not sure about other ways to catch this, but I would think this would make headlines nation wide if you could get Lyme's Disease by mosquitos, being that West Nile and such is a serious condition, espeically during summer months.

Lyme disease is contracted from a bite from a deer tick. There is sometimes a rash resembling a " bulls-eye ", but not always. A blood test confirms the presence of Lyme disease. Dangerboy, aka my DS Ian tested positive 2 years ago. Treatment is with antibiotics. We caught this fairly early, so he didn't get as ill as some people have if it is undetected and untreated.
