The valet parking staff is certainly not as good as it used to be. At the Polynesian it used to be when you pulled up to the GCH entrance there was an attendant at each car door and one at the trunk. Today, you might have to wait until one attendant can muster the strength to move from the bell desk to your car. On this past trip when we retrieved the car from the valet we were always asked if we needed directions. So I asked, "How do I get to Blizzard Beach?", "How do I get to Animal Kingdom?" or "How do I get to I-4". The response was always the same - "Go left to the gate, left out of the driveway then follow the signs." When I asked for directions to Typhoon Lagoon the valet asked me, "Is that near Downtown Disney?" then had to ask a co-worker for directions which were...."Go left out of the driveway then follow the signs!"::rolleyes:

One evening at the Boardwalk Inn it took forever to drop the car off and even longer for the valet to bring it back. They also tried to charge me at Boardwalk even though the car had been parked in valet at the Polynesian all day and had the little valet tag hanging on the turn signal lever.

On a trip in November to the Grand Floridian, I had to stand outside my car and wait while 2 CM's at the bell stand just stood there looking at me. I waitede a good 5 minutes to have a valet come give me a receipt. Not very "Deluxe" IMO!

We haven't noticed any problems with valet. The only time I noticed any difference was when we returned to VWL late one evening and saw that it appears they've also outsourced the grounds maintenance. A worker with a "generic" looking work uniform (the kind from a central laundry) with an embroidered patch on the chest that read something like "Hotel Services" was spraying down the walkway between the main lodge and VWL with a hose. He didn't look at us or say anything as we approached. He simply stopped spray as we came by and resumed after we passed him. The guy and his behavior just seemed rather out of place for WDW.

There are some pretty disturbing posts in here about the valet service. Thankfully, I've never used it. I'm fairly young still and don't mind the walk from the lot hauling a bag or two. After reading these posts, I won't be using valet any time soon! Good topic and poll, OP.

Attention DVC Members - It has been reported as a widespread problem on the DVC boards since Valet has been outsourced that Members are being incorrectly charged for valet parking. Make sure and check your room charges carefully PRIOR to checking out and get it resolved before you leave.

Yes, definately gone down hill from my experiences. Been charged for valet at my DVC resorts, mysteriously missing my dashboard parking pass and witnessed valets fighting over "jobs" In July I didnt' even bother with valet we just self parked everywhere!
