...something that should have been fairly obvious from the begining?
Once, years ago, I played a text-based computer role-playing game. The characters on the screen were represented by simple typewriter text symbols. Dragons were 'd' or 'D', depending on size. Trees were 'T'. The player character was an '@'. Anyways, there was this monster, the karmic lizard, that was basically the worst thing ever. If it touched you, you were DOOMED. If you didn't manage to kill it in one swipe, it would touch you and you were DOOMED. If you ran away (unlike most other monsters in this game) it would chase you. As it was a lizard, it looked like a 'l' (or if you were really in trouble, an 'L'). The only way you could tell it from other lizards in the game was that it changed to a different color every turn.
I played this game on and off for years before I realized it was a Karma Chameleon.
