Has it ever been cheaper to stay at a moderate?

I was viewing a thread about staying at WDW during cheer competition, and someone said that the Pops/All-Stars (forget which they mentioned) were $190/night for the time period they were going down. This got me thinking, has there ever been a time when the moderates would be cheaper than the values? Ol, if not cheaper, maybe a few dollars more (whatever that may be I have no idea, but in the grand scheme of things you get the picture)? Just curious. I know from reading that the cheer groups tend to stay at the All-Stars/Pops, so maybe Disney would run a special on the moderates? I know, wishful thinking. But hey, it can happen, right? :teeth:

Any time I've checked, and of course, being sure to check the same date(s) for both category of resort, the moderates were always a noticeably higher price per night than the values. :)

With date-based pricing for resorts now, you will find quite a range of prices depending on when you are going and how long you're staying. The rack rates for my next stay at Pop were $163.00 per night, for example, at my time of booking, while the All Stars were only $39 less per night and the moderates were $80 to $100 more per night, depending on the specific resort.

Now, where the difference shrinks, in my experience, is between AoA and the cheapest moderate, as AoA is more expensive than POP---at least whenever I've price-checked. :) But even then the moderates were at least $50 more per night than AoA.

(All of my price checks were made on standard, boring, basic rooms, by the way. ;) No themes, no suites, no preferred locations, no special views.)
