Has it been confirmed that TOWL is open to all DVC guests?

Are DVC members staying at other DVC resorts allowed access to the lounge in 2013? Also, we are travelling with friends who are not members, but are using our points for their own reservation. Will we be able to bring them up as well?

Finally, if we plan on watching Wishes from the lounge on Sunday, Jan 20, what time should we get there? Is it routinely closing at capacity?

Thank you everyone for your help!!!

It was announced at the annual condo meeting and is included in the meeting recap posted on the member website. Blackout dates are 7/3, 7/4, 12/30 and 12/31.

I know they will allow you the DVC member up but I am not sure about your non DVC member friends. I wonder how hard they check this?

i believe as long as you are with them and have your room keys and blue member card they will let you up.:goodvibes

I took my friend up in the beginning of December. It was a great view of the fireworks.

We are owners at BLT, but in June are staying at CBR (it's a long story). Will we be allowed to access the lounge with just our membership card?

No, your reservation is not through DVC. Your KTTW must say DVC room.

That is incorrect. All you have to do is show your DVC card. Our reservation was messed up and was rebooked as a cash room so our cards did not say dvc on them and all we had to do was.show our dvc cars to gain access. I was told this by the front desk manager at SSR and didnt really believe him until we got to BLT.

Here's the original announcement. You don't have to be staying on points, just any WDW owned resort.

From July 8-Aug. 25, 2012, Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at the Walt Disney World® Resort (whether they booked with vacation points or cash) may enjoy access to one of the vacation kingdom's most exclusive spaces: the Top of the World Lounge atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.....
This perk is available exclusively to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current Key to the World card displaying a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge. If the Member's Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Member ID is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership.

My DH, DD, and I went there on January 3. It was wonderful. We did show our KTTW cards (we were at OKW), had to have the CM get the elevator up to the floor. It was very nice. The lounge wasn't too busy but about the time the fireworks went off, the area around the lounge facing the castle filled up with a lot of people. It was beautiful.

That is 2012. I thought the notes from the Dec member meeting stated it had to be a DVC reservation.

This is from DVCnews.

A popular member perk is being extended through 2013. All members staying at Disney Vacation Club resorts using their points can continue to access Bay Lake Tower's Top of the World lounge. Execs stresed that the resort does not have sufficient parking for non-Bay Lake guests wishing to visit the lounge--Disney transportation must be used to reach the resort. Due to expected high crowds, the lounge will be available only to Bay Lake Tower guests on July 3 & 4 and December 30 & 31, 2013.
