Hi

My family and myself have decided that this year instead of our annual trip to WDW we will be going to Disneyland. So we are booked for June 28 for 8 nights at the Disneyland Hotel. I just find it really funny, that I keep reading threads of people who are WDW experts, but as ourselves have decided on Disneyland for 2006. :rotfl2:

Why do you think this is ??? Happiest Celebration or just coincidence??

We went last year. Not just for Disneyland/CA Adventure but to visit the LA area. We did 2 days Disney stuff and the other 4 days we did beaches, Santa Monica and other things. It's interesting to compare DL to WDW. There are certain things about Disneyland that are better than MK, but as a whole the Florida property is far superior. Main reason being the fact that in Florida, the property is tucked away and hidden whereas in DL, it's right on top of Harbor Blvd. From certain attractions you can see the "real world." However, we are so glad we went. The fireworks are better actually. Fantasyland is fabulous. Oh, and the weather - you'll love it. We weren't impressed with CA Adventure really. But, you'll need to try it for yourself.

I'm actually hoping to make it to both locations in 2006. My youngest DD is graduating from high school, and we're planning a mother-daughter road trip from Washington to southern California, complete a couple of days at Disneyland. I did this with my older DD when she graduated in 2002, and it was a wonderful trip. Then, in December, we are hoping to go to WDW and enjoy all the holiday decorations and events. We are owners in a vacation club, and I've already booked the Orlando location for December - hurray! Here's hoping all goes well and we can go (DH is self employed, so I never really believe we're going someplace until all the airline tickets, etc. are bought).

:yay: Okay I'm guilty !! I booked WDW for June and then we go to Dl in Aug for a big trip. We are actually flying into SFO and driving down the coast and will end up in Dl for 4 days. I plan on other area attractions also but I can't wait. I will of course be back to the World in December (how could I miss the decorations) :rotfl2: !!!!

We took the plunge last summer, due to the Magic sailing out of CA. We had wanted to do a cruise for our 10th anniversary and they moved the ship on us. ;)

I liked DL so much I have been back 2 more times(Oct & Feb). I also made it back to WDW in Dec and will be going there again in August. We really like both places and now its hard to choose 1 over the other!

I think Disneyland vs. Disneyworld is all in what you love most about the parks.

I personally love the atmosphere, and because of that I personally found that Disneyland didnt' even hold a candle to WDW.

If you like the fact that all of the attractions would be packed together in one park (mostly one park) you will definately like Disneyland.

I think Disneyland is nice because of the history. I love being on Main St. and thinking that Walt stood "here".

However, I do think the MK at WDW has alot of that feeling since Walt was a big part of that park during it's construction.

It's all in what you look for. I just love atmosphere and there's NO DOUBT that there's more "magic" in the air at WDW. I mean, cmon, how many parks make you park, take a tram and then take a then take a 1 1/2 mile ride into a fantasy world park?

I went to Disneyland for the first time in 1998 and loved the park. This was before DCA was built. I like the "Walt" feeling, the unique rides to DL (Indianna Jones, Matterhorn, Storybookland Canal boats and Casey Jr. and the then Rocket Rods: they just opened the new Tommorrowland). I like the fact they change the Haunted Mansion to the NMBC theme and the Small World Holidays. They also use to change the Country Bear Jamboree to a vacationing theme and a Christmas theme.

I was there in 1999 when they were breaking ground for DCA, again in 2001 to see DCA, sort of a disappointment in theme, but added attractions and we loved the ability to walk to both parks and hotels nearby. You never need a car. To venture out we would rent a car from National which is within walking distance....sort of....I took a cab, and returned it when we were through.

We had to be there on July 17th last year....very hot , but very cool. I am planning a quickie trip this June to DL just to re-see the 50th stuff. Honestly, this was the best fireworks show you will ever see. It was great how it included old and current theme park attractions in the fireworks show.

I've been to WDW about 11 times since 1992, since it is closer( I'm from Georgia). WDW has a lot of great features and benefits, but the Disneyland Park is my personal favorite.

I took DD8 to DL this year, but it was a coincidence, not a 50th thing. I had a business trip to a Feb convention in LA and mom couldn't watch DD this year, so she came with me. I figured that as long as the airfare was already paid for, we should take the opportunity to check out DL. :)

I don't know. We had a good time and there is the whole "Walt was here" feeling and a few rides that are better/different, but WDW kind of feels (whether it's fair or not) more like "What Walt would have done in the first place if he'd had the room...." and both DD and I are happy that it's WDW that's easier/cheaper for us to get to...... Not that either of us would pass up DL if we happened to be in LA. :)
