Has Disney ever commented on their coffee??

We usally just pick up a cheap coffemaker at Walmart and use it in the room in the morning if the room dosen't have one (depending on resort). The coffee at the TS resturants has always been good in my opinion.

I am a coffee lover – and a coffee snob. At home I use Starbucks or a Trader Joe's blend I love (I think it's called "5 country espresso"). I really, really like good coffee. Having said that, I get up every morning at Disney, wander over to my resort's CS, and fill my refillable mug with the coffee they serve. Then I stroll leisurely back to my room, marvel at the fact that I am in DISNEY WORLD, take in all the lush landscaping, say hello to a few bright green lizards, think about what the day will bring, notice the little touches at my resort I hadn't noticed the day before, smile at the little kids excitedly heading out to a park, and I am filled with an overwhelming peace and gratitude. That's a damn good cup of coffee.

I so TOTALLY agree...its the worst I've ever had. We have traveled all over...west...south...on cruiseships...and it beats all of them being the worst hands down? I don't get it?

When we travel to Disney, we take out own to make in our villa...and if we go to AKL or to the Poly we always get the Kona coffee and its quite good. I know some of the nicer sit down restaurants have decent tasting coffee also so the must just just the "NASTefe" in certain areas. It tastes like the sludge you would find at the bottom of the pot when you are done

One would think for all the money Disney makes they could contract to a decent coffee company? Maybe they need to talk to the cruise ships? lol

loco4dis...What a great attitude! I felt good just reading your response. As far as the coffee goes we'll just bring some DD or Green Mountain from home, make it in our room, and enjoy the day just as you do.

I know I should have the same attitude ... and I do try ... I really do. I love Disney and I love walking around and getting the Disney magic poured all over me.... I just find that I am able to better enjoy myself with a good cup of coffee in the morning.... perfect start for a perfect day.
I don't let the coffee thing RUIN my trip by any means.
Where I come from, coffee is 99% of the time made with chicory. If you have never tried chicory coffee, it taste VERY different than regular joe.
I know this and am bringing my own coffee so my taste buds don't get a shock first thing in the morning

I think it would be great if the resorts had a good coffee shop in them. I can understand the FREE coffee in the rooms are going to be of a lesser quality as they are FREE but for those of us willing to pay extra for good coffee it would be great to have it offered.

My DH and I were talking about this great coffee debate and he likened it to his beer. He is not a big drinker but likes a beer on vacation, while BBQ, watching a football game or eating crawfish. He likes Guiness, always has always will. When offered milwaukee's best he will cringe, whine and cry

You can't mess with the brand of beer a man drinks and you can't mess with a woman's coffee in the morning!!!

FWIW, there's a Starbucks at Shades of Green; opens at 6AM. Entering the lobby from the front, bear right and go down the ramp.

I put Disney's coffee about as good as their brand of shampoo. That stuff is awful as well.

We bring coffee beans and have a grinder and Brita Pitcher in our Owner's Locker for the room.

We get the boxes of like 24 of the little cups of International Delight Vanilla Creamer. We carry a few in the park bag with us (they do not need refridgeration) and if I need coffee throughout the day and cannot get to a "good" place, we use those and it kills some of the pain of drinking the nescafe.

We have always hoped Tim Horton's would open a stand in the Canada pavilion. We love their coffee. We have been considering moving to Florida and I can honestly say I would truly miss Tim's.

I usually make morning coffee in the room, and I bring my own. Nothing like a good strong cup of organic free trade coffee. I even bring my french press and just heat the water in the microwave. So at least I get started right.

My biggest gripe, though, aside from the taste of the coffee, is how hard it is to find coffee after 7 pm. Most of the coffee bars in the MK are closed well before then. I know that I am not the only one who likes to have a little pick me up in the evening so I can last until midnight or so.

I drink it because it's there and really love coffee. However, the above poster is correct, it does not really qualify as coffee. I enjoy going to Epcot and visiting the coffee booths near the UK and Mission Space (might be one near Philly as well). I would skip coffee in the morning and load up there on lattes (larges are small). They are made in front of you with real espresso. Can't be that.

Count me in with the anti-Nescafe crowd. We had some decent espresso at the booth near Mission Space last week. I didn't get a good look but I think that maybe they had drip coffee there that was not Nescafe - can anyone confirm/deny?

Loco4dis totally has it right. The taste in that cup that is labeled "coffee" means you're at WDW. I like quality coffee, but I like being in WDW a lot more.

For some reason I don't mind the Nescafe at Disney. It used to be Folgers until about 2003.

In the Studios you can go to the coffee shop over by the Sci Fi and get a decent cup of coffee that is not Nescafe. I don't even mind the packaged stuff in the Moderates. (Just left CSR and I thought it was decent.)

Can't drink Starbucks--too strong for me. I do like Panera coffee though as well as Gevalia.

But I'm at Disney--a couple of sips and I'm sufficiently awake to hit the parks.

My DW and I search out good coffee and Starbucks is where we land most often. Green MT Coffee Roasters is the home brew. We part company on the Disney nescafe issue. There is something about it I like but she hates it. We are going again in Sept and I like to kid her about getting that first nescafe hit! We have found the coffee in the Kona Cafe is very good-served in a french press.
The coffee for me is part of the experience and even if I didn't like it the magic of Disney would never be tarnished by a different coffee taste. Plus there's always Kona from Poly and the coffee pot in our room at WL.
I would like to read some opinions of the Disney Blend ground coffee sold in the shops. We tried it for the first time last year. I'll buy more this year-it's "Really Swell"

Count me in with the anti-Nescafe crowd. We had some decent espresso at the booth near Mission Space last week. I didn't get a good look but I think that maybe they had drip coffee there that was not Nescafe - can anyone confirm/deny?

There are a few little kiosks around Epcot that have real espresso and I believe drip coffee. Also, Kona Island is 6:30am-11:00am.

I am a coffee snob, always have been and always will be. At home I go for Stumptown Coffee, just the name alone makes me thirsty. I have never cared for Starbucks and DD (sorry i know this is blasphemy to some) is awful. A good cup of coffee is a moment away from all the stress of real life. Somehow, when i am "in the world" bad coffee just isnt as important to me, afterall i am already in my happy place.

I am another one who brings their own coffee, Green Mountain Our Blend, I buy bottled water and just make it and plug in my little Farberware and we have our own coffee just like at home..

If I am at the parks and need a coffee, I head to the Swan and Dolphin, they serve Starbucks or at least did..

As along as Nescafe is a sponsor we will be suffering with them.. and I was once told by a chef, not sure if this is gospel, but other than Kona, it is all Nescafe coffee, just different types... Maybe that was Disney talk, who knows.

The other coffee locations that people talk about espresso, etc. are Joffreys coffee (although the name does not get advertised). There are about 15 locations on property including a new one at the TTC.
