There seems to be an awful lot of finger pointing going on about this. THose that got it that "don't have a pin" may have gotten it for some other reason unknown to us. Its easy to sit back and say you would never ask for a deal you weren't supposed to get, but if it was offered to you, I don't believe for a minute that any one of you would say oh, no thank you, that's not meant for me, I'd rather go ahead and pay an extra $1400 for my room. But thanks anyway.
Not one of us knows for sure about these codes and what the deal is. No one has gotten a straight answer from Disney either from Cm's or supposed supervisors. Some may get revoked, I doubt it, but its possible. If mine does, then it does. But I don't feel like I did anything sneaky or underhanded to get it. I asked about it and it was given.
If mine gets revoked I will be disapointed. If someone else who didn't have the pin gets to keep their's then congrats to them. But I woudln't wish for them to lose it just b/c I lost mine, or b/c I coudlnt' get one. Instead of being happy for eachother, why do we have to sit back and wish for something bad for someone else? Does it really make us feel better?
We need to grow up people. Life is not fair. It never has been and it never will be. People get things they don't deserve, people miss out on things they do deserve. Its the way it has always been. I don't see it changing any time soon. But honestly do we need to try to sabotage eachother? How would you feel if you were the one that got it and the ones that didn't were trying their hardest to have it taken away from you? I wish that everyone that wants it could use it. I'm excited about my discount. I'm happy for those others that got it. I'm even happier for those that saved more than me. Even when I was refused the first two times I called, I was still happy for those that got it and never once tried or would have tried to cause a fuss and cause them to lose it, or worse still, wish it away from them.
Flame away, I don't care. But grow up people.
I'm waiting for the "nanny nannny poo poo I get an employee discount"
Corndog:
I hear you. But your reasoning doesn't explain why Disney got away with cancelling deeply discounted rooms that people booked online last year.
According to your reasoning - those people would have had an action in a court of law. Yet nobody availed themself? Seems unlikely.
After rebooking this morning (for the third time since I originally booked yesterday) I found out I do in fact have a pin attached to my name but I have yet to receive anything in the mail or email (I might have deleted the email in the spam folder without knowing) so maybe some people have this pin with their name but don't know.
How do you know that nobody pursued the matter legally?
I respectfully disagree. I don't remember much about the BWI glitch but that was a true glitch - people knew the pricing was messing up and taking advantage of it. In this case people (like me) flat out asked if a PIN was needed to book the 40% off and were told no. I told the CM I didn't have a PIN and saw the code on the message boards - could she see if I was eligible....after pulling up my name and address in the computer - No problem Mrs DisneyGuest let me see what we have available. Now, maybe I was flagged internally or maybe I was sent a postcard/email and never received it - I don't know....while I feel bad others can not get the 40% off I don't believe I did anything wrong in booking my room!
We'll see - either way we're going to Disney so all is well![]()
A discount was offered to some people, but they can't PROVE it was just offered to them without asking. It's unfortunate I can't see how the caller could prove that they didn't request this discount.
I don't think Disney will take away these discounts. I don't. But I can tell you they are well within their rights to do so and all they need to give you is a full refund of any monies paid.
That is in fact, Florida law.
A few reasons...
Because you can't file anything with any court in Florida involving suing Disney and not get press about it.
Do a Westlaw search and let me know what comes up. Most of the Disney cases in the last year are slip and fall and injuries at park. Disney hasn't been sued over hotel reservations in a loooong time.
I am sorry but I find it really hard to believe that everyone here was "offered" something, I think they saw it here and tried to get something for less is more like it! It is my experiance here(which is approx 9 years) this is more of the case then not! Lets call it what it really is!![]()
Something to think about..
I can call tomorrow and book a room with a Disney/ABC employee discount.
I can call tomorrow and book a room with a AAA discount.
I can call tomorrow and book a room with a AP discount.
I can call tomorrow and book a room with a Siemens employee discount.
I can call tomorrow and book a room with a General Motors Employee discount.
I actually have codes for at least some of those. People keep sending me codes. I'm the code-clearinghouse now I think.
When Disney figures out that I'm not eligible for those discounts, they are within their rights to remove the discount. They might figure that out before I show up, or they might figure it out at check-in.

But, fortunately, the folks won't have to prove that. The burden would be on Disney to prove that somebody took something they weren't entitled to. Not the other way around. And I still don't believe that Disney has been exempted from contract law.
