:firefight Whenever I travel I try to visit the local fire department, I don't want to leave out the FD at WDW! Have you visited them, were they friendly and open to visitors? Do you have pics?
Where is the best place to buy Mickey FD souvenirs and can you buy souvenirs at Reedy Creek firehouses? :firefight

I don't think they have souvenirs at the Fire Department... the best place to buy them is at the little fire station on Main St in MK. My Dh actually went to visit them (he's a :firefight ) but it was so many years ago I can't remember what he said about his visit  I'll have to ask him tomorrow :teeth:

Thanks! I just saw online that RCFD has cool tshirts that say "protecting the Magic" and didn't know whether to order them online or not.

My DSIL is also a firefighter. On one of our previous visits he stopped by the RCFD and exchanged patches. They were very nice! What is the website with the shirts? This visit (23 days) we will be stopping at E1 in Ocala for a tour!

I saw those shirts on RCFD's union site. I just searched for Reedy Creek Fire Department. Have fun at E1, I hear it is very cool! Thanks for the info, I will be sure to take patches!

If you want Mickey FD shirts, the firehouse in MK is the place to go. You can purchase the FD Union shirts (Protecting the Magic)at their sub-station that is near Downtown Disney. I have been to the main house which looks like a dalmation a couple times. This is also their dispatch center. Always very warm welcome and they give you a tour if time permits. They sometimes have a patch to trade, depends on whos on duty! Some will also trade a T-Shirt, but not all do.

I was told by a CM that the station near DTD has a nice selection of FD stuff.
You can't miss this house, the main entrance has a helmet above it and a hose leading from a hydrant to a nozzle which ends in a fountain.
I have yet to get there but, I'm going to try on our next trip.
Hope I helped you out.
Stay safe, stay low :firefight

Thanks for all the great info! I cannot wait to get there and check them out! I'll be the mom dragging dad the the boys to the firehouse. :upsidedow

the dalmation house is right outside the pop century resort entrance.was there once but they got a run so i left.also the fire house in mk does have numorous fire stuff.also in epcot they have a exhibt called wheres the fire you can leave a patch there, they will hang it up.the company patch i left last year was hung up in about a day or two in epcot exhibt.just about any fire house in the usa does the patch or shirt trading.

Very cool-we are staying at Pop Century! I will also take a patch to Epcot and look for the exhibit, this is the first I have heard of it.

There are 3 stations that I know of. 1 is by entrance of Pop Century. Another is the one near DTD. And yes, it is very cool how they have the hose wrapping around into a fountain. This house is also shared by the Sheriff. And the last one that I know of is in back behind the McDonalds near the All Star Resorts. That one is behind a fence and basically inaccessable by the public. The exhibit is nice in Epcot, I left a patch too.

Thanks for the ideas. Haven't thought about visiting the fire dept. Hubby is a firefighter. :firefight He will love this idea. :)

Can anyone give me directions to the firestation at DTD? If we take a bus will we be able to walk or should we take our own car? Also, where in Epcot is the Where's the Fire exhibit? Thanks!!

Ok I am now very excited as I have been relying on my mom (grannywishes) for posting! Now I have my own identity, but still need the above questions answered!

The firehouse near DTD is about 1/2 mile away on Buena Vista Dr. You cant miss it, its on the East side with a large firehose sticking out of the ground. Wheres the Fire exhibit I believe is in tha area of Jorney into Imagination. Its sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance, but i'm drawing a blank on its exact location
