Has anyone used their kids wishes for their adult meals?

There does not seems to be a cut and dry answer here. We will be traving with a babysitter and are planning to do some "adult only" dinners. Can we use our son's wishes in paying for our meals and shows like La Nuba.

I KNOW:

That Disney says you have to order from the children's menu, BUT if your child is not even with you can you use that wish?

Has anyone tried to use a child's wish and was told, "no that is a childs wish, you have to use an adult one?" Do they really know the difference?
