Has anyone used Retinal-A?

I am not sure if I am spelling it right or not....BUT, I was given a prescription for this to remove some hyper pigmentation on my forehead that developed over time from sun exposure.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this cream? It is typically very expensive, but my insurance is picking up the tab for some reason! (I just pay the $5 co-pay)

I hate trying something new that I have to stick to each and every day. I am not good with commitment!

If you have used this before, did you see good results? The cosmetic surgeon that wrote the prescription told me that every woman over 30 should be using this daily-no exceptions.

I'd love to be able to get this and have my insurance cover it. Alas, I have no need for the Retin-A other than to prevent wrinkles, and my insurance doesn't think that's a good enough reason to cover the medication. And I'm too cheap to pay for prescription-strength on my own.

I use Roc brand Retinol lotion twice a day to try to stay young(er) looking. It's not as strong as prescription-strength Retin-A, but it's cheaper.

Well, what strength were you prescribed?

I use it (for wrinkles) daily. Started out at 4% and went to 8%. Never had any issues with peeling at all but my skin is not super-sensitive.

My insurance does not cover it so I pay for it myself.

I like what it does and will continue to use it!

OK, I keep reading that retinoid creams do truly make a difference! So please tell what difference ya'll are seeing. And how much do these creams cost out of pocket??

My MIL had a prescription for wrinkle prevention and she had enough to give me a months worth, and I LOVE what it did for my skin. I have no skin issues, but after about two weeks, I noticed my skin just looked healthier and felt smoother. I wish I could get my hands on some more (for free!).

I saw an infomercial for Natural Advantage the other day, and I'd love to try it out. Has anyone here used it?

Seems to get decent reviews on the QVC site.

I have used it off and on for many years...maybe 15 years? I am 40 now. For me, it seems to work for awhile...I increase strength...it seems to stop working...I discontinue use then start over again. I have ALWAYS had skin issues...acne/pimples and now hyperpigmentation (along with breakouts STILL!)

I just recently started "tri-luma" ...I know it is part retinol, and part hydroquinone. I could tell you the eact percents if you really want to know, but right now I am too lazy to get up and look!

I remember my retin A always costing $100...and this triluma cost $150!!!! My insurance does NOT cover it.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I used it as a teen for acne. didn't really help much for that. About the only thing it conclusively did for me was turn me into Santa Clause with bright red cheeks and a cherry nose. So I will be sticking with OTC Olay night regenerist formula. Not really worried about wrinkles but it does a great job with dry patches I started getting on my face.

I just picked up the prescription today. It is a generic (that is probably why my insurance picked up the tab).

The pamphlet does say that skin could look red, itchy and actually WORSE for the first 2-3 weeks. It also says not to discontinue use.

I'll give it a try and see if it helps! I have to mix it with a bleaching cream as well that I bought at the cosmetic surgeon's office. I am trying to get rid of the hyper pigmentation on my forehead from years of sun worshipping! Between that and the laser surgery I just had for the removal of a few chicken pox scars, my face is gonna look like a mess!
