Has anyone used Gold Mobility for scooter rental?

did you rent a 3 wheel or 4? was disassembling easy?
Exclusively 3 wheel. I haven't read a single post reporting real world tipping issues. The issue is theoretical

Check disassembling videos. The seat pulls straight up and off. Gentle doesn't cut it.

Gold is the only vendor I use now for ECVs. I was burned too many times with faulty scooters from Scooterbug.
Same with us, but may just go with scooterbug for short trip pre cruise as it seems easier to have it waiting at resort vs meeting GMS.

I’m about to rent a Gold Mobility scooter again but this time going for a 4 wheel over 3. My doctor who supervises the P/T team states it’s better for my specific concerns: weakened right side due to stroke and l live in an area with hills in excess of 9 degree incline (similar to some of the streets of San Francisco). Name me Skeptical but I’ll rent the four wheeler this time just to be fair and have talking points.

Look forward to you reporting back on how it went.

DH just got a 3 wheel Golden Companion HD (500 lb weight capacity) and he says it is super stable and handles hills like a champ so far. But renting a 4 wheel before buying one makes a lot of sense.

My insurance is really “driving the narrative” and currently won’t approve a 3 wheeled ECV for me without a fight ☹️.

Any idea how steep the hills are by you?

Went with booking GMS again for upcoming trip. They did have a new (to us) comment on reservation confirmation:

SCHEDULING: READ ME * : Your Delivery & Pick up times are your * REQUESTED * times. Due to logistics (such as some resorts being further than others and availability), it is likely your delivery and/or pickup times may be adjusted within an hour of the selected time ESPECIALLY for 7am and 6pm requests!

We need an early return to be able to drive to TPA. They did indicate it would be no issue to instead return it to their site not far from WDW. Not ideal, but workable.

the smaller car transportable one from scooterbug just seemed a bit too problematic. Especially, since the battery life is stated as 2-4 hrs, altho tho they provide 2 of them.

Pride has some 3 wheel ECV which are medicare approved. You might get better results if try to get one of them approved

I see you’re a “deep thinker” too 😉.
Found out before meeting with the medico that various Pride units were Medicare approved and brought that to his attention but he countered with concerns regarding my motion stability and yes, the hill steepness. Apparently, NYS Medicaid, has a written prohibition against three wheelers for my application thus his thoughts. Told him that I’d already used 3 wheeled ECVs, successfully but admitted that WDW’s grounds are not as steep though some Euro city streets might be that I’d already traversed.
I’ll see how it goes this coming Memorial Day.

Same wording was on my December 2024 confirmation but they still were able to delivery and pick up on time. Guess they are just covering themselves.

Yes, this doesn't surprise me. There are disadvantages that come with their success-they're so popular and busy that they can't be as flexible as they once were. I remember the "early days" of renting from GMS, when not too many people knew of them. They always could time things to drop off my scooter within minutes of when I got to a resort. And were more flexible on pick-up. Sad for me, but not for them!

DH has taken it on up to about a 8 percent grade so far, it seems odd they wouldn't approve a 3 wheel, but there could be workarounds if you really want a 3 wheel, send me a private message if you would like some advice that DH has heard of working before.

Golden Technologies also has some 3 wheel scooters that are medicare/VA approved, including the GC240, GC340, GC440 and I think the GC540 may also be approved now, just depends on your weight and the capacity needed. I believe they have other models approved as well.

4 wheel scooters have a larger turning radius. I notice the difference mainly when parking on buses and getting through attraction standby lines with lots of switchbacks, like Rise… 3 wheel scooters can basically be turned on a dime which makes them much easier to maneuver in these instances.

4 wheel scooters feel more stable and less likely to tip, I think especially for a novice user. You just need to be more mindful in a 3 wheel though I’ve never had an issue myself and definitely prefer the superior turning radius.
My DH was concern about tipping and didn't want to even try the three wheel. The last two trips he switched and had no issues at all. He concern was his weight and balance issues getting on and off, but was fine. I doubt he's ever use a four wheel again.

People buying locally may be able to rent or borrow a 3 wheel scooter. Long enough to convince themselves and insurance a 3 wheel meets their needs.

How has drop off been? I see 7am is the earliest time available. Are they pretty prompt?

Thank you!
Gold will schedule/confirm the time the day before. I don't think it will be later then 7:30.

You might change your resort to Swan Dolphin, bell services accepts delivery. You could give scooterbug a shot.
