Exclusively 3 wheel. I haven't read a single post reporting real world tipping issues. The issue is theoreticaldid you rent a 3 wheel or 4? was disassembling easy?
Same with us, but may just go with scooterbug for short trip pre cruise as it seems easier to have it waiting at resort vs meeting GMS.Gold is the only vendor I use now for ECVs. I was burned too many times with faulty scooters from Scooterbug.
Look forward to you reporting back on how it went.I’m about to rent a Gold Mobility scooter again but this time going for a 4 wheel over 3. My doctor who supervises the P/T team states it’s better for my specific concerns: weakened right side due to stroke and l live in an area with hills in excess of 9 degree incline (similar to some of the streets of San Francisco). Name me Skeptical but I’ll rent the four wheeler this time just to be fair and have talking points.
DH just got a 3 wheel Golden Companion HD (500 lb weight capacity) and he says it is super stable and handles hills like a champ so far. But renting a 4 wheel before buying one makes a lot of sense.I’m about to rent a Gold Mobility scooter again but this time going for a 4 wheel over 3. My insurance is really “driving the narrative” and currently won’t approve a 3 wheeled ECV for me without a fightDH just got a 3 wheel Golden Companion HD (500 lb weight capacity) and he says it is super stable and handles hills like a champ so far. Pride has some 3 wheel ECV which are medicare approved. You might get better results if try to get one of them approvedMy insurance is really “driving the narrative” and currently won’t approve a 3 wheeled ECV for me without a fight.
Any idea how steep the hills are by you?

Went with booking GMS again for upcoming trip. They did have a new (to us) comment on reservation confirmation:
SCHEDULING: READ ME * : Your Delivery & Pick up times are your * REQUESTED * times. Due to logistics (such as some resorts being further than others and availability), it is likely your delivery and/or pickup times may be adjusted within an hour of the selected time ESPECIALLY for 7am and 6pm requests!
Yes, this doesn't surprise me. There are disadvantages that come with their success-they're so popular and busy that they can't be as flexible as they once were. I remember the "early days" of renting from GMS, when not too many people knew of them. They always could time things to drop off my scooter within minutes of when I got to a resort. And were more flexible on pick-up. Sad for me, but not for them!Went with booking GMS again for upcoming trip. They did have a new (to us) comment on reservation confirmation:

We need an early return to be able to drive to TPA. They did indicate it would be no issue to instead return it to their site not far from WDW. Not ideal, but workable.
the smaller car transportable one from scooterbug just seemed a bit too problematic. Especially, since the battery life is stated as 2-4 hrs, altho tho they provide 2 of them.
Easy choice 3 wheel you pay; 4 wheel medicaid paysApparently, NYS Medicaid, has a written prohibition against three wheelers for my application
Yes, except I don’t have MedicaidEasy choice 3 wheel you pay; 4 wheel medicaid pays
DH has taken it on up to about a 8 percent grade so far, it seems odd they wouldn't approve a 3 wheel, but there could be workarounds if you really want a 3 wheel, send me a private message if you would like some advice that DH has heard of working before. My insurance is really “driving the narrative” and currently won’t approve a 3 wheeled ECV for me without a fight.

Golden Technologies also has some 3 wheel scooters that are medicare/VA approved, including the GC240, GC340, GC440 and I think the GC540 may also be approved now, just depends on your weight and the capacity needed. I believe they have other models approved as well.Pride has some 3 wheel ECV which are medicare approved. You might get better results if try to get one of them approved

My DH was concern about tipping and didn't want to even try the three wheel. The last two trips he switched and had no issues at all. He concern was his weight and balance issues getting on and off, but was fine. I doubt he's ever use a four wheel again.4 wheel scooters have a larger turning radius. I notice the difference mainly when parking on buses and getting through attraction standby lines with lots of switchbacks, like Rise… 3 wheel scooters can basically be turned on a dime which makes them much easier to maneuver in these instances.
4 wheel scooters feel more stable and less likely to tip, I think especially for a novice user. You just need to be more mindful in a 3 wheel though I’ve never had an issue myself and definitely prefer the superior turning radius.
Gold will schedule/confirm the time the day before. I don't think it will be later then 7:30.How has drop off been? I see 7am is the earliest time available. Are they pretty prompt?
Thank you!
