Has anyone used a toaster in their room?

I understand that there is a toaster in the cafeteria area of Pop Century, but I feel funny using it to toast food that I brought from outside the restaurant.

Has anyone brought a toaster from home and used it in their room? Is it possible?

I am looking for all the ways of cutting down the expense of food. The dining plan is not worth it for me. We don't really eat table service meals and I would still have to pay out of pocket for breakfast or lunch (either one) with the dining plan, so the dining plan is not a cost saver for me, and then again I would have to pay rack rate for the room.

I can't take advantage of the free dining offer because the only time I can go is in July.

No we have never but when checking in at the Poly last week, I saw a cart with the usual luggage stuff, and a microwave and a toaster! I was like wow, where is the kitchen sink??

I think you should reconsider about using the toaster in the food court. It is there for the guests use. Some people don't like the smell of cooking food in their rooms which will happen if you use a toaster in your room.

But, you and I both may get "yelled at" for doing so. Some people consider it a fire hazard.

I LOVED having our own toaster...we kept it in plain view of the mousekeepers and never had a thing said to us. We used it at the Animal Kingdom Lodge...we took our own bread, pop tarts, bagels and toaster strudels for our quick breakfast! Haven't done it since but we're probably going to be taking it again for our July trip. We're not huge breakfast eaters and have apr's for dinners each night. Why spend $$$$ on a bagel when we can bring our own? We even brought a cooler with butter, mayo, mustard, milk and all kinds of other goodies. Saved us a lot and the little one could eat a relaxing breakfast while daddy and I got dressed.
I say GO For It! Just un-plug it after each use and monitor it while it's in use!

We asked and were permitted to use a toaster in our room at Music last fall. Believe me, our toasted bagels left no smell....but the room service pizzas sure did!!!!! The smell just lingered for days!!!!

My thoughts are leaning towards taking both my toaster and my coffee maker this next trip to POP.

As I know I'd be using only one at a time and sitting right there watching it.

Flame away, at the rights and wrongs if you'd like, but this one I will stick to my plans as I see fit. They will be unplugged and stored neatly on the shelf. I have no intentions of walking to the food court for this.

If it's that you'd feel "funny" using the toaster or microwave in the food court - I believe that's exactly what it's THERE for - guest use! DS and DD several times used the one at WL for their popcorn and poptarts.

If it's about having to leave your room - well, that's another story. Sometimes DS and DD wanted something different at breakfast or evening snack time. We all would get out of the room before bedtime a bit just to make clear that the room is mostly for sleeping and bathing and dressing.But that's just me! Do understand about AM coffee in the room - coffee is for MOI -

Haven't used a toaster, but we did bring a coffeemaker for hot water to Pop this year. We also brought along instant oatmeal and cup o noodles. Mostly for breakfast we ate individual boxes of cold cereal and purchased a small container of milk from the food court, it was enough for 4 bowls of cereal (used a DDP snack credit for 1 milk each day).

I didn't realize that toaster's were such a problem in hotel rooms. And I've worked for a hotel company for 17 years!! We own 13 hotels and our only fire problems have been from cigarette smokers! So I think they are a far greater risk than your toaster.

As you can tell from under my Avatar, I no longer discuss refillable mugs, kids ages & pool hopping. Hopefully I don't get flamed by the Toaster Police and have to add toasters to that list too!

We brought a toaster to CSR in January (it cost $8.00 at Walmart), left it along with 2 packages of bagels, some pb and jam in the shelf next to the tv. We always cleaned up the mess, and there was never a smell, we were only toasting bagels for heaven sake. We also purchased some other items in the convenience store (milk etc). We did this so that we could have breakfast quickly and without having to fork over $30 every morning. The housekeeping staff never mentioned it to us. However, consider that it may not fit in your luggage after your vacation. We left ours there, with a note, an apology for the extra trash and a larger tip than usual for mousekeeping.

Did the exact same thing. Bagels, pop tarts. Never even knew we did it, no smell. We needed a new toaster at home so we purchased a new one and brought along the old one.

SqueakyMoues - what a great idea! I bet if the OP calls the resort in advance and asks if it's okay to bring/use their own toaster, they'll probably get the same response you did.

And, OP, there's NO reason to feel guilty about using the appliances in the (Guest areas of) the food court. I'm sure that's why Disney put them there - so Guests wouldn't prepare food in their rooms!

When my inlaws asked me if they were allowed to take a toaster for their stay at ASMusic I told them I didn't think so. My DSIL called the resort direct and asked. She was told it was perfectly okay with the exception being another guest making a complaint about the smell. They ended up not taking it because of no space in the car but I was still surprized that they were given a positive answer from Disney. We used to always bring along a travel coffee pot until one of the turn down ladies at WL told us that actually it is frowned upon. I guess it just depends on who you talk to.

Nah, not funny. Lazy....lol. I have bad knees and back so I try to save the extra walking for the parks. We do normally stroll the property at night. I have a hard time even getting my gang to get going in the morning. Hoping having everything nearby might motivate them a bit more.

But I don't really like WDW coffee, so that I need my own, to get my "jolt".

Don't feel guilty about using the toasters for your home food. When we were at the POP in January there was a group there toasting Pizza Rolls they'd brought from home. It really made me hungry for Pizza Rolls (but at 7mos. pregnant you'll get cravings from time to time) but aside from that, there's nothing wrong with using them for your own stuff.

Just make sure you don't leave it plugged in when you are out of the room. Toasters are responsible for more household fires than anything but cigerettes.

If I take them, I surely will unplug. That's why I like placing them on a shelf after, this way I know they are unplugged.

Yes, we have always used a toaster in the room. Purchased one years ago and bring it every year. We've stayed at delux, moderate and Pop and used it at all. We find it more relaxing in the morning to eat in the room rather than rushing down to eat, etc. We go to the grocery store the day we arrive and get our groceries. We prefer Publix rather than Goodings. Goodings is overprices. So, Go For It!
